Great rack for the money
I just wanted to come back and update this review now that I've had it for 2 years. I didn't do anything special to it as others have said they did to theirs. The paint and overall finish of the metal has held up very well. I had no issues with it when I was in the midwest even during some harsh winters. The only time I had an issue with it was after I moved to Florida. It has started to rust after being here for a year but the rack itself isn't that bad. It's majority surface rust that cam be removed with a Scotch Brite pad and I'm planning on repainting it here soon. The worst areas for rust is in the mounting hardware itself. The bolts and nuts and wing nuts that hold it to your crossbars will absolutely need sunlight and penetrating lubricant to break them free without stripping the plastic wingnuts. I had to remove my crossbars to get my rack off today and it was a real pain. Especially more so now that I have to measure the overhang of my cross bars when I go to put my crossbars back on again to make sure they're even on all sides. But other than for that I have had absolutely 0 problems with my rack in the 2 years I've had it and it has become a permanent installation to my suv since i've had it. People know me when they see me just because of it. It's long enough and wide enough to accommodate a cargo box and have plenty of room on the other side of the rack for other various camping gear. This rack is the next best option I have compared to others on the market. The only downside is that it is not a direct mount to the roof and there's no options for it to be without rails and crossbars. That's also a downside to my suv in general also since there doesn't seem to be any aftermarket support for direct to roof mounting. So for those reasons, I selected this rack 2 years ago and have been happy with it since then.

Good bang for buck
I got this unit for a 2006 (1st Gen) Toyota Sequoia. It fits perfectly. I had gotten a small model before and it just looked too small. I did have to reorder a replacement unit because the first one had a connector tube that was manufactured slightly bent; there are about 2 dozen connection points, so to have ONE be slightly off wasn't a big surprise (especially for an inexpensive, Made in China product). I tried forcing it and it ended up slightly out-of-square, so I just reordered. The 2nd unit assembled perfectly. The rack itself is great. It can handle more weight than advertised - guessing I had about 200-225lbs up there on a trip from CA to TX without warping/bending. Looks great. I spray painted my screws black for a cleaner all-black look vs the bright stainless. Overall, I am pleased - and I have received several compliments.

Excellent purchase!
It is solid. I have nothing else to compare it to but it seems like it can maintain its integrity. Took about an hour to put together and install. It is very large and fit perfectly on our Ford Transit Connect. We ordered a 3rd cross bar for the middle section so it doesn’t sag...I would advise that. Cannot speak to longevity because we’ve only had it a month but I could see it lasting many years if not abused. Held everything we had with no issues. We were able to keep the cargo height to a safe level because of the length of the rack. Had a few questions about installation - CUSTOMER SERVICE IS TOP NOTCH! Would highly recommend.

RUST MONSTER
I read on a lot of the reviews that the hardware with the rack rusts. So I blued all the nuts and bolts by heating them with a gas flame and quenching them in oil. I also covered and wrapped all the holes with tape. I also wrapped anywhere 2 separate pieces of metal meet so vibration wouldn't rub through the powder coating. Welp, didn't do a bit a good. Within a few months of winter weather the whole rack is gushing rust all over the car. The rust is coming from inside the rack and from every weld. I almost coated the whole rack, inside and out, with paint or spray liner before installing it, but I had a trip planned the same week I got it and I was hoping the quality would be a bit better than this. The kit was pretty cheap (sub $300) for such a large rack. The sides of the rack are pretty sturdy too. I got the largest size, and you'll definitely want a 3rd crossbar if you're planning on going up on the roof to walk around. I mounted 2 ARB awning mounts and it holds the aluminum arb 2500 awning really well. I added a 3rd mount just to be safe, but I really doubt I needed it. This summer I'll take it down and pull it all apart. Give it a few good coats of Rustoleum and just run it till it falls apart. The welds are okay. There is one spot where the weld is kinda crappy and barely on, but the rest seem good enough. I really don't need it to haul much more than a spare tire and a small cargo box. It's mostly used as just a storage spot to throw wood and cargo crates once I have already stopped so I don't need it to be super sturdy or high quality. If anything, all the arb mounts and awning will help hold the thing together. The wind noise is pretty noticeable if I have my sunroof cover open. When closed, I don't hear a thing up to 70 mph. The front air splitter sits pretty high off the car so if you're driving you get a ton of air between the rack and the car. I'm planning on a high sunroof deflector to direct air to the splitter and hope that will cause more air to go up and over the rack rather than between the rack and the car. Overall I'm still satisfied with it. It's sturdy enough for my needs and the right size for my van. I just wish they would have done a better job of powder coating it. And for the price, I don't mind dumping some time and a few cans of paint into it. -1.5 stars for rust -.5 star for weld and durability

Especially good for the price
Was looking for a roof rack that would fit on my tahoe better than a smaller one I had that just didn't look right being too small. Very happy with how it looks and was easy to assemble. Some rtv where tubes slide together to seal helps with water intrusion and the rust that would follow.

perfect for my minivan
this item is well constructed but light enough to move with one person. I fit this on my dodge 2017 grand caravan and it was the perfect accessory for a family camping trip. On that trip I packed 3 queen size camping mattress futons, a full size camping mattress futon, sleeping bags, lifejackets, camp chairs all secured down with lashing straps and a cargo net. Everything was strapped securely and i didn't feel it one bit while driving. However there is noticeable but acceptable reduction in mpg. normal mpg is about 25 without a rack. with a rack loaded with camping supplies is about 20.5 mpg for the same vehicle. Using a thule force xt xl box i get about 24 mpg. but the thule could never hold as much equipment and is not nearly as convenient for loading rafts for a day of rafting. The four clamps used to secure the rack to the roof rack crossbars seemed sufficient and secure, but i went ahead strapped it down with four additional large cable ties to be extra sure. It didn't budge one bit either way but it gave me piece of mind since i was driving abit of distance with in on my roof. All in all i was very happy with this purchase and the versatility of having a roof rack.
