Lew's Classic Pro Speed Spool SLP Baitcast Reel

For the money, this is a slick casting reel with magnetic brake control. I like how Lew's has such a solid entry level reel at an affordable price. The drag is adequate. The retrieve is super smooth. The casting is good and this thing fits my hands well for hours of fishing. I also have their higher end reels and this is not bad. The graphite frame might turn some away, but this is still fun to use.

This reel is really nice. It was easy to adjust. My psychiatrist has to tighten up the nut on the handle as there were some bird nesting caused by failure to follow fundamentals. When technical points were done correctly, this casts nice with a 1/4 oz jig. Drag is easy to adjust. Quiet and reels in easy.

I love this reel for both fresh and brackish-salt water fishing (rinsed thoroughly after each use)! I’ve caught largemouth, smallmouth, speckled trout, flounder, redfish, and even a few catfish. It’s so lightweight you can cast it all day long, but with 15 lbs. of drag, I’ve never felt overpowered. I use this reel with a variety of rods from medium light to medium heavy. Great reel for the price and pretty durable for how often I’ve used mine in brackish/bay fishing.

The reel came in a plastic clam package. It was ship in a box with no packaging to keep it from sliding around. In the descriptions for the right hand reel it shows pics of a left hand reel. In the description for the left hand reel it says right hand. To me very confusing. So instead of the left-handed reel that I wanted, I ended up with a right handed reel. This was disappointing. But with that being said. I love the quality of a Lews baitcaster. When this goes back on sale for $53 you better believe I will order it again and this time I will have my left hand reel. At this price it makes it the best value for your money. Just a real no-brainer. Love the feel of the crank Handel too. If I would have received the left hand reel I would had gave a 5 out of 5.

I got this reel in sale for $49.99. Used this reel for the first time this week, oiled the bearings and the line guide 1st before going out. The oil worked it's way in after about 5 casts or so and this reel is simply worth every penny for the price point. It far exceeded my expectations based on price point, and is holding 30lb Suffix 832 braid without issue. Casts smooth and FAR. It's a smaller profile, perfect for palming, and it's just smooth! Once you have it dialed in there's no backlashes at all unless you mess up badly. Dialing it in was very simple. You really don't have to mess with much at all afterwards. Solid construction, smooth long casts even with heavier braided line, smaller profile making it very comfortable in hand, overall far outweighs the other baitcast reels I've used in this price point. Worth every penny, I wish I bought more of them.

Bought two of these reels on sale. Very impressed with these reels. They work and function just like my other reels that were 3x the price.

Super smooth and quiet reel. Casts far and minimal backlashing with dialed in brakes. Im using it strictly for a rattletraping rod and ts performing great, has landed a few already but nothing big enough to put the drag system to the test, yet.... Very firm feel as well. No twisting around in your grip when under load like cheaper plastic framed reels. Reel has a much lower profile than comparable baitcasters, very easy to palm, so if you hace huge hands this will feel like a baby baitcaster. For under $60 its a great value and has better feel and smoothness than many of my more expensive reels. Id reccomend this and I wish they had it in more gear ratios, a slower one for cranking would be nice.

love Lews reels and this low end reel is still a great reel. smooth and cast great for 50.00 i recommend this for beginners and for they guys who want a rig for every bait style but have limited budget. will buy more and i have 2 of these already. also i put them on the KVD IG8 Graphite rods. got those on sale for 80.00 i always put a drop of oil on the bearings straight of the box.

Small lightweight and compact. Operates smoothly casts well and retrieves quickly. Breaks work and operate as they should. Pairs perfectly with my daiwa airx d casting rod. Pleased with purchase and would certainly not hesitate to buy another lews baitcaster based off this purchase.

Good reel it would be good to test in lews upper range and compare probably not much difference

Superb lightweight bait casting reel. Quality feel in the hand. The quick spool removal feature is clever. In use, it casts extremely well. Good distance and when set up correctly no hint of an overrun. I also have an Abu Garcia Black Max/Hank Parker and while that is a good budget reel, the Lew’s beats it hands down.
