Super stinky, super effective.
I live in a suburban area where the deer are largely indifferent to people, and have no problem walking right up to landscaping and devouring anything in it. Having mistakenly bought plants that are a deer's favorite snacks, I knew I had to gear up to keep my flowers from being decimated. Enter this stuff. Let me tell you right now that if you have a weak stomach or a easily triggered gag reflex, I highly recommend bracing yourself or getting somebody else to apply this repellant because this stuff is RANCID. Like, bad eggs, old cat food that's been sitting in a hot car, and the weirdest hint of wintergreen, but not in a good way. I actually loudly gagged in plain sight of my neighbor (that I don't know at all) while spreading this stuff it's so awful. The upside is that the scent does fade as it dries. Despite the smell, this repellent truly does work. Even the local rabbits and squirrels don't want to set foot in my mulch beds. Just be sure to follow the directions on the container and reapply every couple of weeks!

Yup, Bobbex Actually Works!
For years, I have been successfully using the 32 oz. Bobbex standard spray bottle of premix. Yes, this stuff really does work and it is one of the few deer repellents that actually does (see my previous review for the 32 oz. Bobbex sprayer). This year, we planted additional "deer candy" plants, so I thought I'd try this larger 48 oz. pump sprayer. Same repellent, but with a large and easy to use pump sprayer... and it is a bit more economical. Once the pump bottle is fully pressurized (about 20 pumps), it covers a large area with just a gentle squeeze of the trigger. With a capacity of 48 ounces, this sprayer is certainly easier to use -- and without the need to constantly pump the spray trigger as with the original applicator. Great product, easy to use 48 oz. sprayer, and it remains effective for about one month as advertised. My only comment is that we must be judicious when using this larger pump sprayer. It is easy to use WAY too much repellent when applying. The first time I used this convenient new sprayer, I didn't pay much attention and my first application went through nearly half the bottle. Oops! Now, I just apply only the needed amount. Frankly, this new pump bottle is a genuine improvement in convenience. When I'm paying attention, there is no change in the amount I use compared to the typical 32 oz. squeeze-trigger sprayer. Due to our current higher useage on more deer candy plants, I routinely use this larger 48 oz. pump sprayer. These days, I refill it with the 64 oz. bottle of Bobbex concentrate (significant savings). The concentrate requires a bit of mixing in the sprayer bottle, but this is not really much of an inconvenience. If you need to use a lot of this product through the year, the savings with the concentrate is considerable. Bobbex is an effective and highly recommended product and this new 48 oz. sprayer is terrific. Hope this is helpful information.

Atrocious odor; sprayer can clog
Pros: Is effective. Last year (when I purchased this product) my hostas were being devoured by whatever creatures consider my plants as salad. Our deer population is almost non-existent now, so figured might be rabbits. Sprayed this smelly product and the plants had a chance to produce flowers. Cons: This stuff REEKS! Someone told me it's made with wolf urine (plus other ingredients). Also, MUST shake container before using. Adjust setting on sprayer. Hold at a distance from you and HOLD YOUR BREATH. I wear gloves and cover my arms against mist landing on me. Can have a stream or mist. Product needs to be re-applied after rains. Sprayer can clog, so rinse under outside hose after each use. Do NOT use if there is any wind or even a breeze because it WILL land on you! I also wear a cap to protect my hair. Wear goggles if you don't wear glasses (which I do, so I clean my glasses afterwards). TIP: I store this in the garage, in a box with other gardening liquids/powders (like what I use on the damned slugs that also enjoy eating my hasta!). In winter, I place the box in the shed. Keep disposable gloves nearby so they are handy when you go to apply this spray. So is it worth it overall? Not for me. This year we have had no deer or rabbits, so plants weren't eaten. My biggest problem was the slugs. Dusted the ground with product meant for that garden pest and my hosta blossomed beautifully this year. Bottom Line: Product DOES work. But I won't continue using, due to hassles outlined above. We are in our 70s, so just don't want to invest so much effort. Would rather have someone come dig them up and take them away. Will plant hydrangeas, which do wonderfully in that same area, and are not attacked by any pests or creatures.

Excellent at keeping deer away
Bobbex is a wonderful product to spray on hostas, even young tree branches, to keep deer from chewing them. It does not smell good, but only for a short time and then it's fine and works for two weeks before I have to do it again. With this shipment, I never received it and have a hunch that it broke during shipment. At one of the intermediate warehouses. I received a notice that it had been damaged during shipping and was being returned to Amazon. I would imagine that the warehouse smelled awful. I bought one of these four years ago and it worked perfectly. After that I have bought the quart bottles of concentrate. My intent with this purchase was to refill it using my bottles of concentrate because I'd recently had bad luck with my sprayer.

Really, really smells bad, and the pump bottle did not work for long.
Used about 4 times between order in 2023 and today, and the pump bottle has stopped working. Always kept in garage, so has not been in weather... disappointed. On the plus side, the stuff smells really, really, bad, but appears to work if you keep up with spraying, which I did not do often enough after buying last year.

Works, But the Sprayer Is a Hassle
This deer repellent does its job — it really does keep deer away — but the sprayer design makes it hard to use. The pump tends to clog after just a few uses, and the thick formula doesn’t spray evenly, which can be frustrating when you’re covering a large garden area. 🔹 Good Performance, Poor Delivery The scent is strong (and unpleasant), but that’s what keeps the deer from coming back. I noticed results within a couple of days, with no new damage to plants. However, getting the product applied properly takes effort because of the sprayer issues. 🔹 Messy and Inconsistent When it sprays, it works great. But when it clogs — which happens often — you spend more time cleaning than protecting your plants. I wish the bottle design were more durable and less finicky. ✅ Pros: Very effective at repelling deer Long-lasting protection Safe for plants and eco-friendly ❌ Cons: Sprayer clogs frequently Strong, unpleasant odor Thick consistency makes it hard to apply evenly Overall: Bobex repellent itself works well, but the sprayer design really holds it back. If you’re willing to transfer it into a better bottle or deal with some cleanup, it’s worth using — otherwise, it can be more frustrating than it should be.

This is the best deer deterrent I have even found
This stuff smells so bad, but that is also what the deer think. I usually would have my flowers and host as nailed by deer by this time, but not this year. Bobbex is super! It doesnt wash off in rain, but you have to reapply as new growth appears- every 1-2 weeks or so. This particular applicator is great, will buy refills for it. I can not say enough good things about this. Lol, except it smells bad- sort of like rotten eggs, smoke and mint. Very effective. I dont mind the smell, but I dont hang around either. It is pretty intense. But SO good.
