Great Camera System
I have had this camera system for a month and have no issues with it. I bought a 2K 32 inch monitor and the pictures are very clear and crisp. I have TP-Link internet router with true high quality internet service. If you don't have high speed internet service you WILL have problems. When I mean high speed, not the speed you need for gaming just an upgrade from your regular service. I did this and everything runs very smooth, and it was only an extra$10 a month. Well worth it when the system works flawlessly. It was -13 degrees with the wind chill of -30 degrees and the cameras were still working. I installed the camera system myself and I had to buy extra 6 cat cables so it would look neat going into the outside wall from the camera box. I also had to but a 100 foot 6 cat cable to run to the far side of my house and it worked just fine. Running the camera wires through the house and outside wasn't to bad. Now that the wires are ran I never have to replace a battery. I also like talking to people while there coming up to my residence with the app on my phone. That's very cool.

Metal housing, infrared detection.
Works great. Metal housing. Infrared lights night vision. Same as the cameras on the Swann 886804 system I have.

Moisture trapped in Cameras
The only thing worse than these cameras is Swans customer service. I installed these cameras on a weekend and was overall really happy with the outcome. Shortly after installing we had a heavy rain in my area and I noticed one of my cameras had moisture trapped in the lens.Didn’t think much of it decided to try and reach out to swans customer service and get a replacement.First off good luck getting someone on the phone and finding the right number to call. Then You’ve got to go back and forth through email to see if they approve your warranty claim. The warranty claim involves destroying the camera you have via snipping the cable of your camera and photographing it while you wait for a replacement.I was hesitant considering I didn’t know how long it would take for the replacement to arrive. In the span of time that I was thinking it over, another camera had the same issue. Blurry picture, moisture trapped in the lens.I told them I believed these cameras to be defective and asked them to replace all 8.I was told that they would only replace the 2.As of this morning I have 2 more cameras with the same issue. So 50% of my cameras have the exact same issue. Forgive me for not wanting to wait for the warranty to go out before addressing the issue.Swan advised the cameras are for outdoor but suggest it should be under an eave. 🙄. Funny their pictures in the ad show the cameras just bolted on the side of a house.Initially I liked the system but I think this is a defective batch and like every other warranty out there, they will make you jump through hoops for proper service. Would not recommend wasting your time on this company.

Great cameras
I love the quality of these cameras and I will likely buy more. Picture quality is great and motion detection is also excellent though it sometimes detects both snow and flies which I didn't sign up for. lolBuild quality is good. You have the option to turn on the lights for better colorful night vision; the option is in the app. I highly recommend them

Works mostly as advertised except on a web browser.
Update! I heard back from them but I was just sent a link to their website which only tells you about resetting the camera (which I already knew where that was), no talk about replacement. In case anyone wants to know, the camera at least is made by Raysharp and I suspect the NVR as well. The biggest annoyance with this product as well as others on the market is that in 2021 you cannot just use a simple web browser to watch from a PC elsewhere in the house, no, you must use an outdated browser and a proprietary plugin on Windows and Mac only and not just any outdated web browser, only certain outdated web browsers. The only thing up to date you can use is a phone app, I could not get the Windows app to work on the latest version of Windows 10, I don't have an outdated end of life installation of Windows to test that too although some have had success using Wine on Linux to run it, I haven't. I mostly use Linux with the KDE Desktop but also have Windows 10 as well. This system uses common video codecs such as h.264, h.265(HEVC) etc that are on every recent operating system in the world so there is no reason why one should need their outdated plugin on an outdated browser just to use it. It will NOT work on edge or any recent version of any browser. Fortunately the plugin itself WILL install on the most recent version of Windows 10 but you have to use Internet Explorer which only has four years left before it is gone too. The worst part is that Swann is not the only manufacturer do have such a goofy web server built in. I think that there are only a handful of actual manufacturers. In recent months I have seen other manufacturers firmware gurus change the way that their systems deliver to web browsers. They actually use standards now! HTML5 will do anything that a security system would need to do in order to view and administer via web browser. In the last week now that I am outside the Amazon return window, one of the 8 cameras died. I wrote to Swann's support asking how I go about getting a replacement for ONE camera out of the whole system since I do not plan on buying one out of pocket for a system that is still under warranty, I have not heard back yet. Just to be clear, yes I unplugged the camera and plugged it back in which does a POE power cycle, nothing, not even for a few minutes. This happened in the middle of the night when it is cool outside in the 50s.Ok, how does the system work otherwise? It WILL pick up motion for a good distance and like many it does have the ability to prevent parts of the frame from using motion detection and heat detection which was necessary to keep it from driving me nuts. It will pick up cars and pedestrians out in the street by default. The GUI shows a placeholder for mobile stream which would be a third stream. This is limited by the camera models themselves. these cameras do not have three streams, as of now, you get two streams from each camera 4K and HD or your can drop the second stream to a lower resolution. The second stream has to be set based on how good our cell data bandwidth is for remote usage. The NVR will record both streams. The picture quality is quite good and in 4K you can definitely zoom in and see a lot of detail. As far as night vision, typical, in low light the picture is in black and white unless you turn on the built in camera lights. It can be set to turn these on with motion or heat sensing, The HDMI output does support 4K and I have had it plugged into a 4K monitor. To sum up, besides the one camera retiring on me and the ridiculous steps one has to take to use a simple web browser, it does give a quality picture and has a fairly intuitive interface. These cameras are dual stream but the NVR like I mentioned earlier, looks as if it can take a third stream to upload to mobile devices. My second stream is now set to standard definition and I tested it while in a waiting room at the blood donation center. No matter how much bandwidth is between the tower and your phone, you are still limited by the backhaul to the tower and how many people are connected to that tower, the carriers fail to mention this bottleneck. Unless you can download over 12mbs constantly you won't even get HD live without stuttering. As you can see this has all the ingredients most need but that built in web server, really needs to be revamped if not replaced altogether. I hope that the one camera is just a fluke and not common. I recommend viewing the manual before purchasing any security camera system and pay close attention to the web section because a very large portion of them have poor browser support also calling on you to use outdated web browsers with a proprietary plugin that only works on two operating systems as well as an outdated app separate from the browser. Recent Windows 10 changes have broken more than just a few programs.
