"Cut-It-Yourself" Universal File Bars 4-Pack (for Wood Cabinets)

The file cabinet that was in the office I moved into no longer had any bars in it. The previous occupant had used the frames that you build and set in the drawer, but they just didn't work well for my purposes. (They just took up too much space and made the drawer very awkward and not very functional / efficient.) I looked forever to try to find bars that would be a retro-fit for this file cabinet, as it is so old. HON no longer made the bars, and I couldn't find any that would work online anywhere. I ran across these by happenstance, and thought I'd give it a shot. I am VERY pleased with them!! The quality is great - they are great quality metal - not the kind that will bend over time. I measured the bars, took them home to get cut precisely, brought them back and installed them. The hardest part was installing them with a manual screwdriver at first (I finally borrowed a drill, and completed installing the rest of them in about 15 minutes ;) I now have front to back hanging files (instead of the side-to-side like it was designed for), and have ample room in between my files to sit a couple of binders. I am very pleased with my purchase and I would highly recommend these to anyone searching for retro-fit file bars for wooden file cabinets. I bought four file bars at 40" length and was able to make four hanging sections (two per drawer, 2 drawers) out of them. I ordered the bigger pack of 10 clips so that I'd have enough to complete the job. I only had to find some extra screws - even though I only used two per clip. They do seem to hold really well with just two screws per clip - I may go back later and add more screws for reinforcement, but for now they are stout and don't really seem to need them. (I'd recommend getting a small pack of screws if you have a lot to do.) Would definitely buy again!

Great product to create a file cabinet in a deep wooden drawer. Easy to cut to size and install if you have the right tools, and sturdy quality. I do think it's a little costly for what it is, but other than that I'm happy this product is on the market at all. If this is what you need, you'll pay up because I was not able to find comparable alternatives. Recommended.

Strong like the old fashioned HON products!

For those file drawers that just have too much stuff and when nothing else will work to hold up the file folders, these are sure to hold EVERYTHING! Just as easy to install as any other cut-to-fit hanging file bars, but these are 100x stronger than anything at a retail store I can find. I will probably be buying more of these in the future.

Bought these for my file cabinet. They are sturdy and work great. Instructions were easy to understand.

Worked perfectly

Had a custom built wooden file cabinet and needed rails to install inside. Ordered these and did legal on the top drawer (side to side) and letter on the bottom (front to back). These worked perfectly and are very heavy duty.
