Can i use this as a variable speed treadmill for my chinchilla?

Kind of a silly question- a squirrel cage or continuous-belt geometry would keep the Chinchillas on-task; whereas with this setup you would either need to engage in extensive training or a leash or perimeter fence to keep then from veering off in a straight line and exiting the exercise wheel altogether.

Does the tonearm lift off the record after playing the last track?

No and it is unfortunate bcuz if you happen to fall asleep or get distracted then there goes your stylus into the record label. This non feature demands your 100% attention which is not a 100% option. The upside of having this feature far outweighs any downside it MIGHT have.

Why can't I hear much sound coming from this? What else do I need to buy with this to hear it?

A decent pre-amp included with the AMPLIFIER driving nice size speakers. (Mine are 4 foot tall with woofer, tweeters and mid-range). If your system lacks a pre-amp that can cause small sound.
