How many bands the gold in picture have

4 individual rings are linked. They have to be turned and twisted in just the right way to lock together to be worn. When I ordered mine (years ago now, so maybe it's changed), the bands were so tight that they seemed stuck together, and I wore it that way for a long time. Eventually, they loosened and came apart. Unfortunately, they were still too tight to do the last step to get them back together, because that requires a little more wiggle room than this had. I probably could have taken it to a jeweler to be polished, but I never did, and that's the end of that. For $40, I expected better.
