Crock-Pot 6-Quart Cook & Carry Oval Manual Portable Slow Cooker, Red - SCCPVL600-R

I was hesitant to buy this based on some "exploding lid" reviews, but glad I did. I've only used it once, having just received it. I still have my 30 year old crockpot and it works fine, but it has the temperature dial in degrees, and this one has "low, high, warm" settings. Most recipes I come across now call for low or high settings, and with the temperature dial I have to guess what temp I think the author of the recipe thinks is "low". I made chicken stroganoff in the old crockpot, and buffalo chicken in this one. Set them both on low at the same time and the chicken in both cooked at the same pace. Per directions, I did not lock the lid while cooking. So I didn't experience shattering lids, leaking, nor caving in of the outer casing. I love the red color of this one and the oval shape, my old one is boring brown and circular. And i like having the warm setting on this one. And for $25 for a 6 quart portable crockpot - it's a pretty good deal. I crockpot cook most of the year - will update if anything changes. Update 10/10/2019-still working fine, no problems, no exploding lid and I’m still using it a few times a week-heats up like it should, cooks thoroughly, easy-ish to clean. I’ve even transported it with the lid locked and it hasn’t shattered, but I only lock the lid when transporting and unlock when I plug it back in.

I purchased this crock-pot in December 2010 to replace my old (very old, probably 15-20 years old) one because the old one had lost most of its glaze finish after awhile and the lid broke after many happy years of use. I love this new crock-pot not only because of its neat locking lid for traveling, but also because although the capacity is larger than my old one (6 quarts vs. 5 quarts) the liner is much less heavy than my old one, and has a lower height for (I think) easier access & reach for stirring, placing ingredients, washing, etc. Don't have anything negative to say about this except a few precautions... * I highly recommend hand-washing the lid because the rubber gasket can otherwise stay dirty and/or smell of whatever you last cooked, if you clean it in the dishwasher. * The outside can get very hot to the touch so I'd recommend if you are traveling with it/carrying it, to wrap it in a towel or one of those insulated bags/liners to avoid heating your car's upholstery or burning your hands. * Also, it runs pretty hot. Even when I kept it on the warm setting, my chili was piping hot for hours at a chili cook-off event I took part in, in January. If you are using recipes that are from before you purchase this one, keep in mind you may need to reduce cook time slightly. Overall, a fabulous product for the price and fast shipping!

Crock Pot is a tried and true brand, and this one wont let you down. This red is beautiful and attractive on your kitchen counter. It has a rather brushed deep red finish, rather than bright glossy enamel red. I have ran the lid, which has a vinyl seal, though the dishwasher and has removed food smells, etc. Uncomplicated controls and low setting does a perfect job if you have to leave it on all day. Love to keep it simple, and didnt need all the un-necessary bells, whistles and lights some crockpots are coming with today. I recommend buying this size rather than the smaller 4 qt, even if you are only cooking for one or two people. Roasts fit and dont try to push the lid up while cooking. You dont use the latches while cooking, only for moving this crockpot around. A good investment and a beautiful, unique look.

Aging millennials, my forgotten sisters and brothers of mid-eighties birth, gather round, let me tell you the story of the Crock Pot. These things are great. Throw a bunch of crap into the Crock Pot. Cook it on high for 4 hours if that's what you've got. If you've got all day, cook it on low for 6-8 hours. Then there is food. This Crock Pot will do these things for you. They are within your grasp. You are the friend that cooks, perhaps. Look, this one has buckles you can use to close the lid. Then you can take it to your friends, the ones who do not cook, and feed them. I bought this one for that very purpose, and because it's big enough to feed several people. More often than not, its size serves to make dinner and then lunch for two days, for my husband and myself. This is a big Crock Pot. There are many like it but mine is in the kitchen. Here are some of the things that I have made with this device: - yams for Thanksgiving - spaghetti sauce - many varieties of chicken with stuff - shepherd's pie filling - curry sauce - Other Visiting for the holidays, my mother made meatballs for Christmas Eve, letting them simmer on low all day long, and they were delicious and tender. My husband made a very successful sinigang with it, as well. Crock Pots are magical. Crock Pots are fun for the entire family. Crock Pots mean that, if you work at home but still need to feed yourself and others, you can get all the ugly kitchen crap over with by 9:00 am and ignore it for the rest of the day. It doesn't get that hot to the touch. It doesn't overcook food any more than any other kind of Crock Pot. It's a Crock Pot. Your mom probably had one. This really isn't that different. A Crock Pot is a Crock Pot is a Crock Pot. This one loses a star only because I was expecting a cherry red and got some kind of wine color. I like the some-kind-of-wine-color, though, so I didn't bother following up on it. Minus one star on principle.

This is the only crock pot I would trust to hold pounds of hot wax for months on end. It'll still smoke and you shouldn't do that inside but I've seen it done for years now and never once had a fire. I'm sure that's improper use of this product and don't blame me if you fill it with wax and start a fire, but I personally would trust it to melt wax without a fire. Always check your smoke temps though just to be sure.

This red crockpot is beautiful! So much so, I ordered a second one so I can cook two meals simultaneously. I do not lock the lid when I cook anything. That is only necessary if you transport the crockpot. Just lay the lid on top. The lid has a seal, but don't even worry about that. My old crockpot lid has no seal and is made of plastic and cooks things fine when all I did was put the lid on top. I think reviewers had issues with this crockpot if they clamped down the lid while cooking something. Don't do that. Another issue was how hot the sides get. My other really old crockpot got extremely hot on the sides too. All crockpots do, as far as I can figure. Just keep your crock against the wall on the counter, far enough from the edge so little hands can't reach up and touch it. This crockpot is beautiful in the red color - just stunning. Highly recommend. Also, can't believe the low price for the quality of the crockpot that you get.

Bought this for my wife and she really likes it. We've made one meal in it thus far and this crockpot did a great job. My wife was a little nervous when she read the reviews saying that it cooked too fast, but we have not experienced that. Ours did not cook fast. We made a pot roast and it cooked just like it was supposed to, nice and slow. We were very pleased. Wife loved the red color. She enjoys the simple cooking settings and the carrying lid is very secure. We did not notice any smell like some of the other reviews mentioned. It’s a good size and cleans very easily. Overall, a great crockpot and no complaints so far. One thing we noticed from looking at the reviews; the silver color had far more complaints about overcooking than the red. May be nothing, but just something we noticed and our red colored one works amazing.

Es un buen producto, buen tamaño, es fácil de guardar y si no tienes espacio se ve bonita como parte de la decoración. La he probado ya dos veces, una para cocer carne y otra para frijoles y quedan de lujo, en alto estuvieron en poco menos de 4 hrs ambos.

El equipo comprado desde España a Amazon España, ha resultado proceder de USA, con enchufe USA y solamente conectable a la red de 120 voltios, imposible de usar en España. No puedo opinar sobre el funcionamiento de esta olla de cocción rápida. Solo opino de la puesta a la venta por el vendedor de forma "equivocada". Además de eso hubo que pagar gastos de importación, algo impensable, ya que en el momento de la compra solo estaba marcado el precio del producto.

I bought this appliance on amazon uk site as I live on the Isle Of Man, it has arrived with an American 2pin plug on. How on earth am I supposed to to use it over here.
