Sleepaway Camp 2 - Unhappy Campers [Blu-ray]
P**S
Sleepaway Camp II is a campy cult classic.
Sleepaway Camp II: Unhappy Campers along with the original are by far one of the best and underated horror films of the 1980's I know there are 4 in total. But the first to have that something special. The first with the ending nobody saw coming at all, even though after you see the first the second time arond it makes sense why she never went in the water or would get changed with the girls and how it was often brought up. Though not enough to give away the "Crying Game" Angela was a transgender girl murderer at the lake. In part one. This one following the same story, but five years later Angela's about 20yrs old. Now at a different camp as a counselor, resorting to her old way, pining those who are not following camp rules?I love how part two is more campy, funny and throws scares at you as well. Its very intellengent. If you get some of the 80's references thrown in.

Just terrible
Awestruck over the positive reviews for this one: it's singularly bad, and never in a so-bad-it's-good way. While the first Sleepaway Camp scored a few points for being an amazing time capsule of an 80s slasher with a fun twist ending, its sequel is a simplistic borefest with no redeeming features. OK, OK, there's some gratuitous nudity. One star for that.Personality-less killer Angela returns and from minute one she's killing anyone who offends her sensibilities (though there's zero logic to this compared to the first movie and the transvestite angle, which was so interesting, is more or less abandoned here). After Angela offs a camper she just tells the camp boss she "sent them home." And then she repeats the process, over and over and over for 80 minutes. That's it. There's no plot. No twist. No need for a spoiler alert because there's NO STORY. The kills are low budget and lame, so there's no enjoyment there, either. As for the campers, everyone in this movie is 20-30 years old. Are these people counselors? Campers? Who knows as they all wear the same blue shirts. At least the first movie had actual teenagers and kids in it so you could tell them apart from the 30 year olds pretending to be teenage counselors. Here? Nope, Angela (apparently a counselor) looks younger than the men and women who are maybe supposed to be campers. Is Camp Rolling Hills actually a camp for retired counselors?

Wild, Over the Top Slasher Movie with Awkward Dialogue & Colorful Performances
Sleepaway Camp II is a sequel of course, but it takes Angela’s story where it wants to. While it isn’t a wholly faithful sequel, it does preserve Angela as a wildly crazy killer and that’s a comfort, of course. This movie has a more comedic tone and isn’t as mean spirited as the original. That’s going to please some and upset others, but I think Sleepaway Camp II blends the horror and dark humor well. Pamela Springsteen takes over as Angela and turns in an over the top, but likable effort. I think you have to kind of root for her, as she is fun to watch and clearly enjoys what she does. The rest of the cast is solid too, from the awkward dumb guy counselor to the goody two shoes camper to the ravenous easy girl, they’re all here. The original Sleepaway Camp was a superior slasher, but Sleepaway Camp II is still a lot of fun. Visit my site for a full review!

the girl did it. a good amount of toplessness.
i dont get the positive reviews. there is no horror, no mystery, no twists. just a psycho girl killing and a couple of natural girls who go topless a few times. humor? not really.the high ratings have to be about Gen X nostalgia of seeing boobs on screen -Yes! *fist pump*. movies mostly stopped being so exploitative after the 80s. but other than that, i dont understand how anybody could be entertained by this movie.

A cult favorite for a reason!!
In Sleep Away Camp 2, Angela returns this time posing as a camp counsler at a camp near the camp where the original murders took place. This time around She speaks way more and is not liked by anyone. And everyone She feels needs a lesson taught gets theirs. Very cool death scenes including an outhouse kill which will make You want to throw up. The best sequal in the series in my opinion and certainly my favorite.

Just good old-fashioned 80's light-hearted slasher fun.
Just good old-fashioned 80's light-hearted slasher fun.Having seen all the SC movies, I've always found them to be amusing - well, with the exception of SC IV: The Survivor, which is simply comprised of 90% archived footage from previous SC films - and strangely compelling. SC II seems, to me, to be the most kill-focused of all the films (meaning, the one most geared towards focusing on the kills as the driving plot element). In speaking with my friends - also fellow horror geeks - there seems to be a strong love-hate relationship with these films. Either you "get" em, and enjoy them for what they are, or you think they're the worst thing since the birth of the first Kardashian.Bottom line is this one's a lot of fun, with enjoyable kills, and worth a rental if you liked SC I.

Need to weed out the 'bad'
It would be useful to watch Sleepaway Camp, for background on Angela. But then if you did, you would know that everything is predictable. Compared to the first in this series, there are mostly older teens, and this movie shows lots and lots of bare breasts. You would also get it when some of them refer to Angela as a dyke, an inside joke.Angela is the avenging angel, upholding her definition of morality. It is a slasher movie with lots of gore but not particularly well done gore, but decent for a low budget film. A lot of the gore is implied before it gets too graphic. It does get a bit repetitious, as one easily can predict who will be the next victim. For a movie of its genre, it is decent.

Good release over all.
There weren't that many special features on this release but if you're just looking to own the film on a blu ray with a good transfer, then this is absolutely recommended. My thoughts on the movie itself were mixed. I enjoyed some of the comedy and the acting wasn't terrible, but it doesn't have the charm of the original. Still worth a watch though.

Fantastic slasher
First of all, if you have not see Sleepaway Camp 1, than I advise you do not read this (or any other reviews of it's sequels - or the back of the DVDs - as there is no way to talk about them without giving away massive spoilers to the first movie). So please do not read this if you have not seen Sleepaway Camp.Sleepaway Camp 2: Unhappy campers is a very good sequel to Sleepaway Camp, but it is also very different. Unhappy Campers is a camp horror movie, with as much comedy in it as horror. Also it was made by a different director and Angela is played by Pamela Springstein instead of Fellisa Rose. However, desite all of these changes, Sleepaway Camp 2 is still a brilliant movie and is not spolit at all by the changes made since the first. The movie takes place five years after the first movie. Angela Baker (now nineteen) has been released from a mental institution, having had a sex change, and is now working as a camp counciler at Camp Rolling Hills. At first it seems that managed to put the events of Camp Arawack behind her, she is now confident and filled with innocent happyness. But we soon find out Angela has not quite moved on from from her old ways as "Bad Campers" - the one's who misbehave - are being "sent home" by Angela as one-by-one she kills them off in gruesome, inventive ways.Truely one of the best slasher movie series ever. Angela is brilliant as a serial killer, she only kills bad people, most of her killings are very origional and she's is very witty at times.I highly recomend this movie to fans of the slasher genre or anybody looking for a good movie.
