California Hachiya Persimmons Organic (5 lbs)

I was sent 8 large persimmons and they had large black spots that I understand is from sunlight. The black spots did not have any bad affect on the persimmons. They ripened in a short time, and they were very good. The last to ripen did so unevenly, so I experienced some pucker affect from a few. I will order next year later in the season but before the price goes up; the last time I looked it was $53. The price when I ordered was $36.

Over all as described. Packaged pretty well but box was smashed on one end and that squashed 2 of the 8 fruit. I reached out three times to see if they could replace just the two but got no response. As expensive as they are that was a lot of value gone. Update. Not one survived until ripe. The squashed ones were dead on arrival. The others turned brown and rotted one at a time. My wife loves persimmons. We have never had to throw out a single persimmon while waiting for them to ripen. This entire order was wasted.

The seller took such care packing and shipping this fruit, I will not hesitate to come back for more. I ordered 10 pounds of this beautiful, bright, and nearly perfect fruit this year and fully intend to come back in the future. Each piece of this delicious large fruit was well protected in bubble wrap and extra padding was included in the top, bottom, and sides. My family loves persimmon cookies and we make dozens each season. I'm so glad to have this seller to rely on in the future.

I have childhood memories of persimmons off the tree--probably a different variety. These don't match up to memory, but then memory can be a tricky thing. I've repeat ordered these, and will do it again when the season rolls around. Most of them were ripe, juicy, with tender flesh. I eat peel and all. Some I got later in tge season were spotted. I cut out the worst of the lot. They get pricier as the season wears on and draws to a close, and are more likely to have spotting.

A Central California native, I have such fond memories of baking "all things persimmon" every fall with my grandmother and great grandmother, and then for many years beyond that with my own children and grandchildren. When my hubby and I moved to the east coast in 2015, I was so disappointed, that come fall, I searched high and low, but could not find persimmons anywhere. In fact, my mother-in-law, had never even heard of, let alone seen one. For 9 years I have mourned my loss of fall persimmons, so I was so excited to find them of all places, on Amazon! Not even thinking twice, (and regardless of the fact that I was paying a pretty price for what I had for so many years plucked from trees in my own yard), I ordered a 5 pound box and kept my fingers crossed. I am delighted to say that my persimmons arrived a couple hours ago, and I have been doing the happy dance ever since. There were nine little orange beauties in a carefully packed box, all without a single blemish or flaw! Now they are all nestled nicely into brown paper bags to finish ripening before they are baked into recipes passed down through my family for generations. This Thanksgiving one of our many blessings will include my great grandmother's (steamed) persimmon pudding. If need persimmons and cannot find them anywhere, I would absolutely recommend this supplier for the quality of their fruit as well as the speed in which they arrived at my doorstep. I love hachiya persimmons. I make a bread out of it for Christmas. When I lived in california we had a hachiya and fuyu tree. Italian family christmas has always had persimmon bread.I have missed it since we moved. I got only 9 pieces of fruit in my order. I wish it was more. I saw some got as many as 12. They were not ripe enough yet so I put them in brown bags on the counter. They got nice and ripe and I scooped out the pulp to bag for the freezer for my bread at Christmas. I may have to make a loaf now as I miss it so much.

I’ve bought persimmons from this seller several times over the last few years and in spite of the other negative reviews about this seller I’ve never experienced anything but outstanding fruit every time! I often think some people like to find fault with If anything they buy on Amazon. Many times I have taken a chance and purchased an item with poor reviews that turned out to be a quality product at a fair price! Based on this experience I tend to take reviews with a grain of salt. Amazon is so good about returns you have nothing to lose if you happen to get the one off poor product so come on people quit finding fault for the sake of finding fault. To finish my review even though I have ordered persimmons twice already this fall and they are nearly gone the quality is so good that I am ordering again before they are gone again until next fall. That says it all!! I’d like to add onto this review. Like I said I took a leap of faith and ordered again even though my last order a year ago was never delivered nor refunded. I’m happy to report that I received the order I placed and for the most part the fruit was of good quality with a couple exceptions. The fruit was much smaller this year but once they ripen they should be very good. Two were close to being ripe but rotted before getting fully ripe. A few others were smashed all over the inside of the box and the box was very beat up. I wrote the seller about the poor packaging and spoiled fruit and never got a response but today Oct 30th another box of persimmons shows up with no note. Packaging was good this time and the fruit inside were large like I have received in previous years. So big thanks and shout out to this seller!

Not ripe or damaged. most could notbe eaten
