Best headphones I've ever owned, get your sound source sorted though.
Build wise, the 371's are very nice. Sturdy in comparison to other headphones I have owned. Sound isolation really surprised me as much better than I was expecting. Everyone's heads a different shape, but I find these effortless to wear. This is my first step into the £100 plus level for cans. They really make my previous headphones seem flimsy. My last set were oneodio pro50 "hi res". I use that term loosely as these AKG's blow them clean out of the water. The clarity is amazing, I'm hearing parts of songs I never noticed before. Previous headphones had had very pronounced V shaped sound, ie stong bass and treble with not much mid. These AKG371's are way better balanced with more prominent mids. Vocals literally sing. The bass range is very wide, going down to 5hz. For me though I have had to tweak EQ levels as I found the bass is not as strong as I was used to, however the clarity right the way through the ranges of bass, mid and treble is amazing. The treble is not harsh at all, although I find it is well detailed and is easy to pick out different instruments, string plucks etc. this makes them easy to listen to for longer periods. The low end bass is amazing, adding levels of low rumbles to some songs that I never new existed. Another reviewer had posted how they thought someone else was in the room with them. I have to say I found the same as even picking up gasps for breath of singers in some of the tracks really caught me. I am using these to listen to music via a well known jungle named streaming service that offers ultra HD tracks. The services app EQ just didn't suit these cans and was missing chunks of sound clarity, not to mention poor bass. So I invested in the Poweramp EQ app for the low price of £1.99. This app is a powerhouse and really unleashes the beast level of sound that these AKG's can give you. I thoroughly recommend this app for any android users as with a little set up and permission granting I have it taking charge of sound from my Samsung phone, and so vastly improving the sound output from the streaming service. Back to the AKG'S. If this is your first step into the world of hi res/performance ear huggers, or are looking for a comfy set of cans that just make everything seem better, get these. Edit, nearly 4 months in and these are still blowing my mind. I have now paired them up with a Tanchjim Space dac dongle through my Samsung phone and the difference is incredible. I really cannot stress the importance of a decent sound source for any headphone. Clarity and soundstage is now on another level completely. The reason I have gone for this setup is both the akg371 and tanchjim space produce uncoloured incredibly clear sound, so then using the poweramp eq app I can really tailor the sound to my liking. This setup blows away the sound from some £200 plus Sony cans that i tried recently, they just sounded muddy in comparison.

Robust, comfortable and clear
I bought these for "home studio" use ~3 years ago and have been very happy with them for that purpose. I like the sound clarity and subtle warmth, and comfort-wise I've no issues (they're easily adjustable and stay in place once adjusted). They feel pretty robust overall and come with multiple cables of different lengths (and one that's coiled) which attach via a mini XLR connector which I'd imagine also helps with longevity. The earpads recently split but were easy to replace and they feel good as new now, and I'm hoping I'll be able to keep using them for years to come.

Everything louder than everything else, but get better with time and patience...
Not too sure about these yet - despite some of the earlier build quality negative reviews, overall they seem reasonable for the price - longevity of course remains subjective. Sound quality is my issue - accepting of course, they need a few hours to run in and loosen up the drivers. Out of the box, certainly, they have attack - but to me it feels like instruments are being thrown at you all at once - everything is upfront ie. everything louder than everything else! To be fair the detail is good and you can separate instruments quite well, they are quite easy to drive, plenty loud even off my phone - but..... harshness creeps into the treble a bit too much for my ears. Soundstage is about average for this price, but lacks wow factor. Surprisingly, they are not as bass rich as other reviews led me to expect, and I've tried them with multiple systems to confirm this; they yield a bit more bass extension than my AKG K92's, but I find the harsh treble distracts you from this, and steals from the mid range, which if you concentrate is otherwise well handled. They are apparently calibrated to try and give the best overall sound across the audible frequency spectrum - known as the Harmon calibration apparently. For me the jury is still out; the sound signature is definitely distinctive, but of course, that also makes it subjective. I'm tending to think because of the Harmon calibration, the K371 may be more love 'em or hate 'em headphones as they come out of the box. I'm still tending towards a preference for the more rounded sound of my older, cheaper AKG K92's; those are more relaxing to listen to, even if they sacrifice a bit of detail; of the 2 sets, those are the ones I'm more inclined to reach for presently. Overall I'd say the K371 are pretty good value for money and they are of adequate quality for the asking price - I just haven't learned to love them yet. I'm inclined to persevere for the time being, see what they sound like after a few hours. If I decide to keep them I will update this reveiw in due course. 1 Month Update: Re-read my previous thoughts above - good news, under use the treble harshness has evened itself out, and these are now much more relaxing to listen to. In fact, I'll go further and say these have really grown on me and become one of my favourite pairs of cans - once they bed in a bit, and you get used to the sound signature, you realize their best trick is that they are extremely versatile - rock, pop, classical, jazz all dealt with competently with good dynamics and accuracy, evening the sound stage is still a little lacking. But, for half the price of a pair of my Meze Neo' Classics ( my personal reference headphones), comparatively I get 95 percent of the musical experience - that's impressive at this price point. Even so, I'll be honest, I wobbled about sending them back for a couple of weeks, but I just kept coming back to them. Even though I was initially inclined to deconstruct them for their faults, I just couldn't let them go for some intangible reason - the X-factor of headphones? Maybe. On balance, I have decided I really do like them - in fact I REALLY like them, and they're turning into my default go to's - slow burners, but they're definite keepers for me.

# Lautstärke an allen getesteten Endgeräten sehr gut.
