How long can you keep the kefir in this container?

As long as you could keep kefir any any glass bottle. Everyone ferments kefir differently, and some refrigerate more than others. I actually make my kefir with goat's milk, and after sitting in my fridge for a day I just pour it through the strainer lid, which I LOVE! I just add more goat's milk, and don't even clean the bottle but maybe once a week. This is a great container, I just wish I had found it sooner!

Will wide mouth mason jar lids fit the glass jar?

No, it they will not fit. The Kefirko jar has a slightly wider mouth
