No most pools do not need filters unless you get to over 500 gallons. This pool is in the 300 gallon range and because it's made of vinyl, this product can be treated with chemicals through a floater basket. The debris can be cleaned up by using a wireless (non filter attachment) pool vaccum, as well as a skimmer.
