It Works!
Wow! Was this cable a lifesaver. Older projector with VGA only A/V viable input port and Lap Tops that no longer have VGA ports. A quick and easy download of the driver and it works perfectly.

You need to know a couple of things but this thing does work
(Edit 9/7/2020-I WAS able to get it to work on Windows 7. I rebooted my laptop a few times, plugged in the usb end of the cable, turned on the monitor, and on my laptop screen I right-clicked and chose Screen Resolution. From there, I was able to select Extend Monitor. That was it. It worked. So yes, it works on Windows 7 too, at least on my laptop. Read on. At first, I was not sure the device worked. On a Windows 7 laptop, there was a sharing violation so no, it did not work. I have a dvd player on the old laptop and while I did read reviews and I did see references to downloading the installation file, I could not find anything specific as in a link-anywhere. Then again, I read quickly. So I set my old laptop up as a share and installed the drivers from the dvd across my home network to my Windows 10 machine. It installed. I plugged in the device to my new laptop, and the other end into a VGA Samsung monitor. I set up extended monitors. Everything worked. It will take me some time to figure out what and how across the laptop monitor and the extended monitor. I can do it, use both, but for teaching online I am not yet confident to try to have two monitors. The point is the product works (but most likely not on USB 2 and Windows 7 though some reviewers said it would work on USB 2 but with reduced screen resolution). What else? How hard is it to add a small scrap of paper with a web address where the installation file for Windows can be hosted, downloaded? Some folks do not have dvd drives in their laptops. The tiny disk is no good when there is no dvd drive to load it from. Last, it seems to me to be a very cost-effective solution to add an older VGA monitor to a laptop. It works. It makes the connection; the second monitor is there, on, usable. How users use the setup is possible thanks to the cable. This is a great buy!

Works on Macbook Air (2015)
This cable arrived within two days and came appropriately packaged. I was so excited to get this hooked up since I have been searching for ways to connect two external monitors to my Macbook Air (2015) - considering this laptop has limited ports. One monitor is connect to my mini displayport-to-HDMI cable I bought from an different vendor on Amazon and to connect the other monitor I bought this basic cable USB 3.0 to VGA. It took a few attempts downloading the driver for it to work AND i was kind of nervous downloading a driver supplied through a shared google drive. But it finally worked and I was thrilled! The only thing I can say the quality is a little poor but that is to be expected when using through USB to an analog like VGA. The font on the monitor through this cable is not right - kind of squiggley. Which I don't mind considering I only paid $15 for this cable. I'm in college right now getting my Masters. I love how I can utilize all 3 screens. Thank you so much for this. Highly recommend this adapter! EDIT 10/14/19 Just updated Mac to OS Catalina (10.15). Didn’t work initially but I reinstalled the driver 2 times and now it’s back to working. Woohoo!

Kind of Works
My older cable connection failed so I bought several types of cables to connect my Vizio TV as a monitor. This cable works but ONLY if I unplug it after booting up the PC Windows 11, then plug it back in. Not sure if this is a driver issue or some PC setting. Its a pain in the butt but works. Messaged the vendor and they sent me a list of things to try. PLEASE RESEND?

Works like a charm
I bought two cables to install monitor 3 and 4. After software installation and reboot, the monitors are up and running.

Fizzled
I purchased this adapter because my iMac thunderbolt ports did not work - apparently it is a common problem on iMacs. I needed a second monitor, so I purchased this USB to VGA adapter cable in order to bypass the mini screen/lightning port problem. I hooked the monitor up to my iMac with the new cable, and initially, the second monitor worked OK, but soon started flickering. The second day I noticed that while working on a document in Word on the secondary monitor, the page jiggled constantly. Quite annoying. Also, it was not easy to manuver across both sceens with my mouse. I could only go one way, like orbiting around the screen - no back and forth ability. Finally on the third day, the second monitor just quit working. I thought maybe the monitor was bad. So, I abandoned this newer iMac and various cable fixes for an older one I have. I used a standard mini monitor VGA cable adapter on the second monitor, and it works perfectly, so I know it's the purchased USB cable that doesn't work properly - not the monitor. The mouse also works perfectly across both screens now. I can't say for certain what happened with the USB VGA cable, except to say it quit working, and never really worked well. I am not going to try for a refund. It's not worth the 2 hours I would spend with Amazon. Have a great day, and maybe this cable will work for you
