Does as advertised and I *WILL* buy 2 more. Bait it before you set it and once it's set, put it out and leave it alone. This is the perfect addition to a bug out bag for the procurement of food. It can be used as a snare, but be ready to dispatch the squirrel or what ever gets snagged. It will take small to medium fish and the trigger can be modified to react to the lightest tug. It comes out if the package set up for a normal strike and that's enough to set the hook firmly. You can use live bait or other scent type baits. This will work on a bobber (round, torpedo, or quill that is sufficiently large enough to keep the bobber on the surface while keeping the Speedhook at the depth you want it at). The instructions are included and easy to read. If I were to change anything, I would switch out the line that comes with it for braided Spiderwire (60#) and offer 3 sizes of barbed hooks. This you can do yourself, but just saying that if I had to rely on this is my primary tackle, those are the changes I would make. If you intend to use this as your fishing tackle when out in the wilderness, make sure this is allowed in your state and you have your license to fish.

Very cool system. I generally trust milspec stuff to be functional and affordable. There are other systems like this you can get for significantly more money, but for a small, lightweight, self contained kit to be stowed in a bugout bag indefinitely, I'm happy with this purchase.

Nice product little on the pricy side but well worth the investment great for survivalist or an addition to you're bug out bag .. Check you're state regulations not legal in all states . They are in mine .. So I can set them and go about my business and come back to camp with fish for the night they are very effective out of setting out five I'll get 3 fish in a couple hours .. That's good odds if you ask me .. I'll be getting more ..

Instructions could use some tweaking to include some nuances of the speedhook that one might not want to learn in an emergency situation. We all know that you are supposed to test your gear before you trust it, but not everyone does. One thing I learned in some dry testing was that the trigger tension was too high out of the box (bag) and so i used the included tool to reduce it slightly, or so I thought. After a very very small adjustment, took some careful observation to determine that it did indeed adjust, the trigger would slide right off after being set, with no action on the hook. When adjusting again to add back some tension the adjustment tool bent (is is a flat piece of metal rolled into a tube and the seam is not strong enough to handle the force required for adjustment). This was not a big deal, i have tools to fix it and there is another side to use in the mean time. So I continue on using the other side of the tool, now rotated 90 degrees to take the force away from the seam, and fiddle for a few minutes before finally realizing that the whole prong can't be bent, you actually have to create a new bend just above it. That is not hard at all and worked great, problem is that you can't do it with the included tool alone. For this reason only I am dropping review to 4 stars. Included bait and line seem adequate and come in a well sized package. The main product, the speedhook itself, seems fantastic. Simple, effective, and intuitive.

This speed hook works as advertised, tried it out in a pond near my home on some bluegills and the mechanism worked like a charm, tension on the device released when fish hit it and it set the hook, worked every time, very simple to use and perfect as a survival fishing ...

They are small but work like they are giants I would recommend them as well as the seller great item for a b.o.b I have used mine several times with out any problem ..great item and great sekler

Feels cheaply made after using it a few times it's lost some flexibility in the metal maybe that's why it was 13 dollars

Have not tried it but seems to be perfect in size all the way around for survival And it's going right into a survival kit
