By far the best radio for sports, news, talk radio regardless of price
Got this radio when the first one I bought (same radio) started fading out at random times. Turns out the radio station was moving its transmitter which created the problem. Now I have two of these radios both of which work perfectly. I tried a lot of much more expensive radios ($50 to $90) and none of them performed well. Decided to try cheap. The $12.99 radios perform the best by far. The radio holds the station with never an adjustment - much better than the expensive ones. Also, they are very small and lightweight so they can easily be carried in a shirt pocket while doing yard work or moved from the coffee table to the patio table. Great for sports, news, or talk radio. Clear, distinct sound for those purposes. By far the best I have found. Compared to other radios, the two required AAA batteries have an acceptable life.

The reason you are getting static
It's actually a pretty good and compact little radio.I originally had a bad opinion of it (see original review at bottom) because it got a lot of static after a little while. But it turns out that's how these little radios sound when the batteries don't have enough power left to run them. With fresh batteries the original clarity came back.[Original review before I realized how battery affects small radios]I was really impressed the first 2 days I had it. Reception was crystal clear in areas my old radio had trouble in. Sound quality was really good. Now two weeks in, it sounds terrible all the time and I struggle to understand what’s being said due to all the crackling. If I turn the volume up over halfway, the sound degrades to the point where it’s as much crackle as voice.

Good little radio!
Got this radio for my dad and while it is pretty small, the sound is clear and loud enough. Very compact, it can fit in your shirt pocket. Very good sound and at a decent price, it’s lasted awhile. Got rechargeable batteries for it and I’d say I need to charge them about 3 days after 8 hours of use each day. Not bad. Good little radio!

Great for such a small radio
Update 2 (9/30/23): I bought a second one since they were on sale and had a coupon for an additional discount so less than $13. I thought it would be fun to try some AM DXing with this tiny radio at night. I was surprised to get distant 50kW stations including one just over 600 miles away when measured in a straight line from my house to the transmission tower on Google Maps. It was a good night for DXing with my best radio getting a station about 1000 miles away but I was totally impressed since the AM antenna inside this radio has to be very short. I just used the radio's internal antenna, no external loop antenna. I noticed the included ear buds are different than the original radio though I don't use them so can't vouch for the quality.Update (9/15/23): I ended up putting this radio in my car center console for emergency use. One day when I was waiting for my wife, I brought it out and used it while waiting. I noticed it has a problem common with small radios. As long as I held it, it got good FM reception but as soon as I set it down, it lost the station. I'm leaving it at 5 stars because I still think it's the best radio of this size you can buy. It's five stars compared to similar sized radios, not compared to larger ones.Original review: I bought the Prunus J-777 after watching Todderbert's review and recommendation on YouTube and it didn't disappoint. The speaker is great for such a small radio. It doesn't sound tinny or flat. The reception is also great considering its size and short FM antenna. I picked up most FM stations within 60 miles and AM stations at night out to about 700 miles. The distant ones were clear channel stations. The dial is small so you have to go very slowly and sometimes backtrack to find some stations, but that's to be expected with a radio this small. It's a radio you can take anywhere and get good reception or use as a back-up to your main radio. Overall it's outstanding for its size and I recommend it.

Smallest Pocket Radio...
It's the smallest radio that I have ever owned. My reason for the purchase is to have it on me when I go walking for exercise at Mission Bay, San Diego. It even works with earbuds and hearing aids, so just perfect for us old folks.

Nice Design Defeated By Quality Control Issue
I read several positive reviews of the J-777, before deciding to purchase the radio. It was touted as having a good design, quality construction, and a superior speaker sound in comparison to other mini AM FM radios. When I received my J-777, I was impressed by the design and the quality of the sound coming from the speaker. It is definitely an attractive little radio. Unfortunately, my J-777 produces so much static when tuning along the FM band that it is difficult to hear when a station is tuned in. There is also a lot of play in the tuning dial. When I wrote to Prunus to ask for help, to their credit they responded promptly. At first they said they’d send another unit to me, then they decided to just refund my purchase price. I added a star to my rating for the prompt and honest customer service. The radio is a disappointment, but the company stood behind its product and did the right thing.
