Paper Piecing All Year Round: Mix & Match 24 Blocks; 7 Projects to Sew

I love this author's easy, whimsical designs. So fun to make potholders for charity bazaar! Her other books are great too!

I have several of the Mary Hertel books. Copying/scanning patterns on a printer is not that hard. However; if you don't want to have to do that, just buy the kindle edition and you get a pdf download instead. I use June Tailor paper since it prints great and makes paper piecing that much easier. I do not print 3 copies as it states to do in the book because I am not wasting my JT paper. I print 1, and remember to add my quarter inch seam allowance.

I really like Mary Hertel's paper piecing. I have purchased all the books, and enjoy doing the blocks for simple projects like potholders, etc, they make a very quick and easily finished project. What I don't like is that the patterns are hard to copy, and that the paper piecing isn't "exploded". That is, one has to print out either multiple copies on the piecing paper, and cut them apart, or (what I did) scan, cut out each section, tape it to another piece of paper, then print onto piecing paper. This generally saved me 2-4 pieces of piecing paper per block. But the blocks are very hard to copy in this book, had to cut them out of the book. I wish it had come with a link to download digital versions of the blocks.

Material lists are detailed and patterns are colorful and descriptions are well written. Two choices of blocks for each month if the year.

Great little (or big) paper piecing things tor the year. I was a little disappointed that there was not one for every holiday or month but they are still great little patterns. I will enjoy this book very much.

The projects in this book are adorable, but the patterns are a nightmare. They are very hard to copy, pull out patterns would have been helpful. Trying to end up with a block that can be squared to an 8" block is difficult. This is not a book for beginners.

NIchtbahnbrechend, aber gut gemacht. Die kleinen Motive können leicht zu einem großen Quilt zusammengetzt werden, machen aber auch gute Laune au Topflappen, Taschen, Kissen etc. Durch Vergrößerung bzw. Verkleinerung mit dem Kopierer kann man die Blockgröße variieren. Die Blöcke sind für jeden mit Grundkenntnissen in Papaer-Piecing gut zu nähen.

Wer Paper Piece liebt, wird dieses Buch lieben. Ich bin ein absoluter Fan von Mary Hertel und von ihren zauberhaften Vorlagen. Auch ohne Englischkenntnisse kann man wunderbar danach arbeiten. Ein klares JA zu diesem Buch ( es ist schon mein drittes von ihr)!!
