Non-Gmp Tvp; Minced 5/16 Irregular

This is indeed the best TVP I've ever used. Why? Because it digest so well compared to Bob's Red Mill brand. Bob's is a good product, too, but it is granular whereas this UNFI TVP is more flakey like corn flakes. I believe this is why it is noticeably easier to digest than Bob's. Decent price, too, although I do wonder that the price of all TVP jumped up a while back because Sam's stopped selling the bargain pack of Boca burgers.... so people turned to TVP which possibly drove demand. That's just a theory though. I don't know that for certain but the two events did occur simultaneously. I do, however, know this TVP digest better than Bob's. My favorite way to eat it is to mix it 1:1 with boiling water and add taco seasoning, chili powder, and some liquid smoke. But it's also good to mix it 1:1 with boiling water and add sausage seasoning.... which can be used to make a vegetarian version of "sausage & eggs" and/or the sausage flavored TVP is also good on pizza.

As the Amazon title clearly says (3/1/14) this product is "Non-GMO" but when the slow-boat package arrived, the label says nothing about it being Non-GMO. Red Tag who distributes this for United National Foods Inc (UNFI) won't certify it and UNFI has not returned my email. Like the Barry Farms TVP we purchased, this is clearly false advertising. Just because it's peddled as Non-GMO doesn't mean that it is and it likely isn't f the package does not say or certify it. We are disappointed and returning this.Update 5/24/14 : we returned this package at an out of pocket cost of $16. We complained to Amazon about the deceptive non-GMO advertising without response . While the Barry Farms listing was corrected, this UNFI advertising still runs foul. I still believe that this is falsely advertised. If non GMO is important to you this is not the product.

I ordered the UNFI Non GMO TVP in the 5 pound bag.. actually it was two bags. I am absolutely thrilled with the TVP. I have made vegan ground beef with it, Vegan Burger Patties, Used it with Seitan that i mixed and a whole range of other foods with absolutely the greatest possible effects. I will most definitely be ordering this in the future when I run out of the 5 pounds I purchased. This is the best TVP I have ever used!
