Q: Does it use the same refill scrubbing pads?

Yes, they are interchangeable. The cheap old version of this wand has a tiny hole in the plastic that lets the soap dribble into the sponge. This new version has a much larger opening that is activated by the the thumb squeeze but for me, anyway, it takes many hard squeezes to spit out some detergent. Maybe it was developed and tested by men with giant thumbs. Neither is ideal.

It's perforated where the hole should be. You have to pop the piece out. Works for me.
