Compression sleeves  are designed to help support sore muscles and joints, reduce swelling and increase circulation and recovery. The brace's function is to provide exoskeletal support and protection. We recommend that you speak with your surgeon about using a sleeve in conjuction with your brace. We are not aware of any reason that the combination would not work, but only you and your surgeon can determine if its the right protocol for your circumstances. SORRY 2 HEAR THAT I PURCHASED 2 OF THEM THE 1ST WAS THE WRONG SIZE ON BOTH BRACES I FELT THE COOLING SENSATION IMMEDIATELY I'VE HAD THE CORRECT 1 OVER A WK AN I STILL FEEL AN SMELL THE MENTHOL ALL DAY I PUT MINE ON FROM 4AM-9PM MINE WAS A GREAT PURCHASE !!!

It should feel somewhat tight, so that you get the support you need. On the other hand if it feels really tight, that when you walk you feel a pull in the knee, then it is too tight and you need to exchange it for the larger size. I hope this helps!
