First 100 Words: Scholastic Early Learners (Lift the Flap)

My 2 year old daughter loves this book. I bought it for her thinking she would like lifting the flaps and seeing what's underneath, and I was right. She brings this book out to play with at least 2 times a day. The problem is, that it is way too flimsy for babies / toddlers. The flaps are made of a very thin card paper. (Even thinner than a greeting card) So my toddler rips off the flaps like tissue paper. I have to watch over her like a hawk when she uses this book. I've taped it up countless times. Bought it a month ago, I'm sure I'll be throwing it away within 6 months. For the price, the flaps could be made much more sturdy, or even out of plastic.

I adore this book! I am a Preschool Teacher in the infant and toddler room. I use this book during "Circle Time". It has enough to it that I can use it for both age groups. It has a wide range of level possibilities depending on how you present each page. The infants, starting at about 8 months to 18 months in age, as well as the toddlers 18 months to 3 years old. The fact that there are different things under each flap from what shows on the top of the flap, gives you twice the amount of objects, animals, numbers, colors...to teach. My kids LOVE it! I don't let them touch this book, the flaps would most certainly be ripped out,my fault not theirs, This is a teacher supervised book only for me. I can enjoy using it year after year. There are other sensory items in my basket of tricks the children are meant to touch and explore. If you're as silly as I am and teach with as much intent as possible, your children will flourish! I highly recommend this book to anyone in child care. Parents, teachers, grandparents, sitters,.. Each page has numerous objects to teach. The objects are photos of real life items, flower, animals, food, clothing, toys...

There’s multiple flaps on each page, and pictures with the words next to them with no flap. My daughter already likes this book a lot. She’s 15 months old and says lots of simple words already. I can’t wait for her to learn more from this book. The words are divided off into categories, like colors, food, transportation, etc. Great buy!

This book is a great idea. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get a new book and what was indicated as “good” condition doesn’t really meet that standard in my opinion. Most of the flaps are torn off. Disappointed.

The flaps in this book are big enough for little fingers to lift.

A tad disappointed. I thought you would guess the picture in front and under the flap would tell you what it was. This wasn't the case. The front of the flap and underneath are two different words. This confused both my daughter and me.

Good, but I wish the flaps were made a little sturdier. My 15 month old daughter has torn or bent many of the flaps. However, she does get a lot of enjoyment from this book.

Bought this book for my year old granddaughter for Christmas and she loves it. The really bright colours and pictures are really attractive, just what a child enjoys. The flaps are easy for little fingers to lift open and closed. Has seperate category's animals, foods, colours, numbers etc. We spend hours reading it together and she's quite happy to sit by herself reading it too! Would totally recommend buying this book, you wont be disappointed

My kids loved this book I used it from when they were 6months plus. Nice bright colours and objects. They just ended up ripping off most of the flaps so it’s ended up in the bin but I didn’t mind as it had been used and enjoyed very well by that time.

The front and back covers are extremely (and unnecessarily) thick, making you think you have more pages for your money. Not over-impressed.
