Avana Mattress Elevator - Under Bed 7-Inch Incline Foam Support - Riser for Acid Reflux, GERD, and Sleep Relief - California King

I'm dealing with GERD and need to sleep elevated at night. I tried a wedge pillow which was uncomfortable because I'm tall and it wasn't long enough for my torso. So I thought I'd give the Avana mattress elevator a try. At the lower-end price, I didn't care about having to return it if it didn't work out. Needless to say, that won't be an issue because this is just what I was looking for. It arrived yesterday and I slept on it last night. I'm 6'3" 200 lbs and didn't have any slippage during the night. However, that could be due to the Impressions memory foam mattress topper that sits on top. We bought the CGK Unlimited extra-deep CA King sheet set which covered the 24" head of the bed.

A very simple, but a great effective solution. I have tried many different gadgets and products for people with GERD and this is the best. Highly recommended!

I bought this for 3 reasons: - Help with partner’s acid reflux - create a downhill run for the urinal hose to drain into its jug - make it easier to take pills and swallow water while lying down. We have a motion base, but tilting that up at the head causes back pain and difficultly sleeping on my side. This keeps us sloped while essentially lying flat as far as spine curvature goes. The extra height is a bit of a problem, so I will have to remove one more section of the bases legs to bring the overall height back to around 20” in the center. The head will be around 24, and the foot closer to 17” Overall, it has accomplished what I wanted and we both are sleeping better and the urinal is draining perfectly now. I think a 5” height would have been just as good. Only the Chinese suppliers offered that, but only in standard eastern king, not Cal King, and I didn’t want to cut it

The foam is decent but sleeping on this makes the legs and feet swell up really bad. I used it for a few months and both me and my wife complained about pain in our feet and calves. The thickness might be too much. We've since bought an adjustable base and although more expensive. Being able to raise and adjust the feet is invaluable. The fit for California king was good except it made the entire need move with any slight movement.

I bought this for a few reasons. 1. Our Californial King non-waterbed mattress is set in a boxed in waterbed frame. It makes putting bedding on rather difficult for me as I have back/neck/hand issues. I was hoping this would help lift the mattress enough out of the frame for easier bed making. Goal was achieved after taking the wood panel out of the bottom side of the bed. --win 2. My husband has sleep apnea of the obstructive form and is suppoed to use his CPAP. I have borderline sleep apnea that seems to disappear when my head is elevated. (so far so good for me.Less than a month using it though). It has NOT stopped my husband's snoring. Can't have it all, I guess. :) 3. I had been using a wedge pillow on top of the mattress to help with acid reflux issues and reduce apneas. The problem was that caused me to sleep in awkward positions that threw my alignment out of whack. My neck is much happier now that I don't need the wedge on top of the mattress. My acid reflux--not completely helped, but definitely better than a regular pillow on a regular, flat mattress. 4. I was suprised how comfortable this is under our ghostbed firmish mattress. My husband hasn't complained one bit either. Only 1 concern... not sure how good this is to be slanted whole body down, regarding legs/feet circulation. Therefore I have put my big wedge pillow at my feet and sometimes a pillow under knees. I don't stay on it the whole night, but at least I feel better with some elevation while on my back. Overall, I like this even better than imagined before buying.

I am happy with this purchase. Elevating my mattress has reduced my gastric reflux symptoms and improved my overall sleep. I ordered CAL King and it came in two sections making it easy to move.

The foam itself was great. However, the 7 inch incline put a lot of pressure on my hips and back. I couldn’t sleep so I took the wedges out from underneath my mattress. Because they come vacuum packed, you can’t really return them. I would suggest to try the 5 inch incline first.

I was having horrible acid reflux. In the middle of the night I would wake up feeling like I was drowning because the acid in my stomach came all the way back up. It was horrible. Scared the crap out of me and my husband. Anyway we couldn't afford a new bed and pillows under my shoulders wasn't working. So we purchased this elevator and Oh my god, it works great. I haven't had one episode since. It also eliminated my husband's snoring. Best investment we ever did.
