Q: If no drilling to install...why screws included?

The 3M tape works already, that is just extra if you want to use it.

Q: can you still use this without the trailer thing?

Yes, you can definitely use this without the trailer light plug. You'll have to tap into the taillight wiring. Not hard to do. Just takes longer.

Q: It’s not changing color when I use my brake or use my reverse on my truck. What do I do?

You need to have a 5 pin connector with the 5th pin dedicated to the reverse light, or a dedicated reverse wire. If you choose not to run the reverse line, you'll still be able to use it as a 4 pin connector. It should work fine with all functions working minus the reverse lights.
