Just not there yet
We got this as part of our daughter's fascination with microbes and the ocean. First off, the customer service was good about helping us get the live organisms delivered. There's not much in the way of instructions or set up either. We found though that the dinos never really developed much bioluminescence--at best we could see a few flashes at a time under the best of conditions...late at night, in a totally dark room (and totally dark, like in a dark room under a blanket). Even under those conditions the display is nothing like you'd expect from the images I saw when I was considering buying them. I'd hoped that nurturing over a few months would develop the culture some, but now that we've had them a few months it looks like there might not be any viable dinos in the culture. Overall, it inspired a lot of interest, but practically, I think these might have been oversold, leading to a fair bit of disappointment and a plastic jar sitting in the corner of our kid's room. :(

Haven’t given it to my son for Christmas yet but I have it set up and I’m fascinated with it! I’m so excited to give it to him!
