BELLINO Polenta Instant, 17.6 oz

I first tried polenta at a family owned Italian restaurant in the town next to mine and fell in love with it as a great alternative to mashed potatoes or pasta. Because I had watched all the cooking shows where they told you that you have to stand at the stove and stir constantly for twenty minutes to keep the lumps from forming while your slowly sift the polenta into the boiling water, I was inclined to simply enjoy it out at that local eatery. Then I found this product, and while it is a bit pricey, a little of this goes a very long way once you get it into the water. You only have to stir it a few minutes to get it to the consistency you want and you take it off the heat. I make mine with the butter that they recommend in the recipe, but to recreate the recipe that I fell in love with, I also add in a generous amount of mascarpone cheese and freshly grated romano and parmesan while stirring so that it fully incorporates before taking it off the heat. Also, once this cools, it will come out of your pan in one piece, literally. This allowed me to refrigerate it and then slice it up for a pan fry the next day to go as a side dish to another meal. As I said, a little of this goes as long way and with one portion prepared we got hearty portions for 2 different meals and both ways we had it, the flavor was just divine. It comes in a freeze dried package so you know it's fresh and stores easily in a seal tight container, making it cost effective in spite of the price.

For a gluten-free, low fodmaps diet, corn is ideal. This polenta, so easy and quick, done in big batches, can last a few days, and then consumed reheated. Its delicious with meat sauce, cheese, vefrtable stew, and any dish that would require bread. And stores perfectly. An Italian delicacy.

I always add Asiago cheese to the cooking Polenta. The flavor is soooooo deliscious and easy to prepare. My husband like it with a red meatless sauce with chicken legs or thighs and spicy hot! I like plain Polenta fried with later toppings of butter and syrup. Thank you for this wonderful product. I’m on my second order already!
