Kafka in Action

Quality of the book content is awful
Pros:The book indeed gives you an overview of Kafka so you can probably use it for that matterCons:1) The content is written in a fashion of ads where more attention is dedicated to emphasize how excellent Confluence instead of explaining why it is so or how to use this excellence2) Code snippets are incomplete and misleading (don't expect them to work unless you download the source code online3) Visual materials are provided just for the sake of providing SOME visual materials without observable thinking of what and how to visualize4) References between pages are entirely non existent. Don't expect to be given a page number when the text refers to another page5) From time to time, there is an impression that the author completely forgot what he wrote several paragraphs agoOverall, I was embarrassed how Manning (taking into account its established reputation) can come out with such miserable edition

A solid, well-written book
I liked the clarity of the writing, the applicability of the code examples, and the clean/crisp illustrations. This is a useful book for folks new to Kafka - as well as managers and architects - who may wish to understand Kafka at a deeper technical level.
