Cafflano Klassic : All-in-1, Drip Kettle+Grinder+Permanent Stainless Filter Dripper+Double-wall Tumbler, Pourover, Coffee Maker for Camping & Travel

I have searched for many years for a good way to make coffee while traveling. At home, I have an espresso maker and that is hard to beat. Over the years I have tried a travel French Press, a travel pressurized-plunger system with a separate bean grinder and premium instant. While each had their own advantages, none offered me the consistency and convenience that I wanted. In particular, I wanted freshly ground beans for each brew as I have found this to be one of the most important factors for a good cup. Then I found this maker, the Cafflano Klassic. It is a fairly compact and light weight all-in-one grinder, brewer and drinking cup. It is sturdy, well made and constructed from quality materials. It is a pour over system that makes an excellent, well rounded cup of coffee. It is easy to use, easy to clean and is completely self contained. It does take some patience, as pour over takes a few minutes to complete. I am OK with that as the smell of the beans, sounds and vibrations of grinding and the aroma brewing are an enjoyable way to start the day for me. Considering the time required though, it is probably better as a personal device than for a group, although the amount it brews in one go could easily be split between two people. It did take me a bit of time to optimize to my taste and there are no instructions for this in the package. There are a few how-to videos online and I built off of those, as follows: I fill the beans to the middle line in the grinder, that gives sufficient coffee for a strong and smooth cup without wasting beans. I have the grinder set to 5 notches off of completely shut ("0" point)-this gives a fairly fine grain size for good, but not over extraction. When I start to brew, I first lightly moisten the grounds, wait 20-30 seconds and then start a slow pour. The entire brew takes about 3-4 minutes to fully drain out and stop dripping. The drinking cup is thermal and keeps the coffee warm for a while. All aspects of it are cleverly designed, for example, the flat "cap" on top unscrews and acts as a cover for the pour over "kettle" while brewing and also acts as a cover for the drinking cup (but it does not screw-on like a travel cover would). Inside the bean hopper and the "kettle" are lines to help you measure the quantity of beans and water, respectively. The price is a good value considering all that it includes. And it makes great cup of coffee.

Works well. Now I have a thermos with a build in coffee grinder and coffee maker. It so simple and convenient for traveling. I can buy coffee bean and make coffee whilst traveling. It an inexpensive and useful device to sample coffee anywhere. Its design is thoughtful and elegant.

Just got this today. I have tried/owned a wide array of coffee gadgets. I got this one to take with me for some long term traveling. My initial use of this coffee make has me pretty impressed. I did a side by side of my french press and the Klassic taste test. Initial impressions: Made a great up of coffee but not as intense of a flavor as my french press. The only thing I wish Cafflano would clarify: is the kettle portion microwave safe? otherwise it does everything you need to make a great cup. I like to have the three elements of control: temp, grind, and steep. It does a great job at that. If you are looking for a cleaner flavor use a paper filter in it. This would go to a five star rating if the handle on the grinder felt a little sturdier and the mug had a screw on leak proof lid.

You know when you find a product that you didn’t know you needed? Then you see it on Prime Day and insist you HAVE TO have it? This is it! Truly a forehead slapper! I’m a snob. I get it. I don’t like the “big green” coffee place. I am super picky about my beans and get a delivery every month. I grind every morning and pour-over brew it very specifically. I have a “coffee bag” with my travel grinder and collapsible pour over cone. Everyone’s life is better when I have my coffee This little all-in-one package does it all! It’s a little bigger around than a Yeti drink. It has a nice insulated mug with a sorta cheesy plastic lid if you want. It’s not a sipper lid. Just enough to cover the drink. The grinder is easy to adjust and use. Beans don’t jump out like they sometimes do. The filter is built it. Sorta tough to clean without rinsing grounds down the drain, but do-able. The cover doubles as a pourer. Tiny little hole so you can direct the water. It’s plastic so you can microwave it if you have no other hot water source. Not ideal, but it’s an option. This is just so much nicer than carrying all the other stuff. I’ve travelled on three different occasions now, all with different hot-water sources (standard brewer, microwave, and k-cup style) and it’s just easier than my old setup The only part I don’t like is that there’s a little plastic in it. Otherwise, it’s absolutely perfect!

I had a couple of these types of grinder/brewers that were off-brand before I finally sprung for the Cafflano. It's great; the grinder is high quality and takes a bit of getting used to but I don't think it'll ever give out. The self-contained mug is relatively large, but for the number of features you get with it, it's worth it as that is literally all you need to bring with you to make good coffee. You can pre-load it with beans for easy next cup. I have never used the pour-over spigot that's included in the top cup, but it does offer a nice fine stream for a controlled pour. The pour-over basket itself is small and very fine mesh, so you would need a slightly coarser grind, otherwise be prepared to sit there and meditate for at least five minutes while you pour (and your water will likely fall out of ideal brewing range). If you're not a zealous coffee aficionado who needs everything to be laboratory precision, then it's totally fine and very convenient for travel. If you are, you'll probably find something to gripe about, but come on, we're talking about a portable grinder and pour over...

I've tried a lot of portable coffee set ups, and I think I've finally found my favorite. For my uses (road trips, camping, etc) the Cafflano Classic is perfect. It fits together into a super portable/sleek device and has everything you need for a good pour over. Does it provide the same quality of say a Chemex? Maybe not quite, but it does a great job when you're on the go. I think the only thing that could make this product better is if it had the ability to heat the water as well. This will be one of the products I'll use for years and years.

Great to have for good quality coffee when traveling from hostel to hostel but a chore to grind the coffee beans.

Got this for my daughter for her camping trip and she absolutely loved this cup! It was a game changer for her and she really enjoyed the fresh brewed coffee!

Gostei do copo no q diz respeito ao moedor, é ótimo, gostei tbm da do recipiente de colocar a água quente pra passar o café, imita a chaleira bico de ganso perfeitamente. A única coisa que não gostei é que o copo q recebe o café passado não pode ser usado como copo térmico, dai vc teria que ter uma garrafa térmica pra armazenar em caso de consumir em viagem.

Als ich auf Reisen gegangen bin, habe ich lange recherchiert, wie ich guten Kaffe immer dabei haben kann. Der Cafflano ist perfekt. super designt, minimal schwer, was aber in Ordnung ist und einfach clever in der Handhabung. Ich bin sehr begeistert und dankbar, dass er mich begleitet.

会社で淹れたてコーヒーを飲みたくて購入しましいた。オススメです。まず、ミルとドリッパーが一体になっているので、これ一つあれば豆から淹れられます。お湯は別途、沸かす必要がありますが、これだけの機能があれば個人的には満足です。肝心のお味は……、おいしいと億もいます。上からかぶせる容器に小さな穴が空いていて、ここから細いお湯を注ぐことができ、先端が極細のコーヒー用ケトルのような感じでお湯を注げます。沸騰させたお湯をこのカップに移せば、恐らく、抽出に適度な90度前後まで水温が下がると思いますし、よく考えられています。 一つだけ、ドリップにはペーパーフィルターがあったほうがいいと思います。そのままで淹れると目詰まりをして、なかなかコーヒーが下に落ちません。私は借りたのウェーブフィルター155（1,2人用）を入れてからコーヒーを挽いています。こうすることで、淹れ終えたら紙を捨てればいいですし、目詰まりなくスムーズにお湯が下に落ちていきます。 正直、あまり期待しないで購入したのですが、本当においしいコーヒーが飲めます。コンビニで買っている人がいたら、こちらに変えたらコンビニ40杯分くらいでもとを取れます。何より、コーヒーを挽いている時間は、仕事のリフレッシュになります。

This little Gizmo is great if you are into GOOD coffee. Great control over grind size making for great cups of coffee.
