desertcart.com: Four Seconds to Lose: A Novel (Audible Audio Edition): K.A. Tucker, Elizabeth Louise, Sebastian York, Simon & Schuster Audio: Books Review: I LOVED CAIN!!!!!! - **ARC kindly provided by Publisher and author in exchange for an honest review** 5 CAIN-Licious Stars Let me start by saying that there are many things I look for in a 5 star read and this one had them all. This book was full of romance, suspense, laughter, sexual tension and sorrow. I couldn't put this book down. I was sucked in from the very beginning. I knew that when I met Cain in Ten Tiny Breaths (Book 1) that he would have a great story to tell, and I wasn't wrong. This story didn't disappoint at all. We learn from beginning that Cain has had a troubled past, but there are so many things we learn along the way. What his parents did to him and his sister was horrible and my heart broke for him. I was so thrilled to see that he was making something of his life…even if it was owning a strip club. This book was chocked full of surprises along the way. There was a little surprise/twist at the end that I didn't see coming but I loved it. It totally fit with Cain and Charlie's story. If you loved Ten Tiny Breaths, then I have to say you are going to love this book as well. I thought the flow of the book was great and of course, to me, the writing was flawless. The author does a wonderful job grabbing onto your attention and making it feel like you are a part of this story. I really don't know how to describe both Cain and Charlie except for that I loved both of them. I loved their characters. Cain was great!!!!! He was straightforward but also tender. He was so compassionate towards his staff. I loved the bond he formed with all of the people who worked at Penny's. Even though there is one person ( China ) that I couldn't stand and I felt she took advantage for Cain's tender side, I was glad to see he finally stood up to her and set her straight. You really need to read this book to get the full effect of Cain. As for Charlie….she was a great heroine in my book. She was such a strong individual. Throughout the book we find out things about her that would normally would've broken any person down, but not her….she stood strong. I have to say Charlie was dealt a really crappy hand when she was growing up but I loved that she came out on the other side a better person. I enjoyed seeing all of the other characters from this series, although I would've liked more of them and what was happening with each of them. We get a glimpse into what has been happening and going on but I would've liked more. I am looking forward to book 4 ( Ben's Book ) That will be an interesting story. Ben was a total character in this book. He had me laughing the most, but with that said he was also a very loyal and caring friend to both Charlie and Cain. I have to say I would love to get a story about Nate and Ginger….just a thought ;) I would definitely recommend this book/series to everyone. This series is all about love and forgiveness and moving forward and becoming better people. Each of these books will suck you in. Review: So intense but so well-written I couldn't stop reading - I LOVE K.A.Tucker's style of writing. She develops amazingly broken characters that make you feel for them and their f****edupness. There hasn't been a book yet, that I have not LOVED by her and Four Seconds to Lose is no exception... I was addicted. Charlie is living in Miami because of her father. He has controlled everything she has done in her life and she wants/needs to get out from under his control before she is hurt or killed! She decides to get a job at Penny's where the bar owner, Cain, is still in charge. In order to save up enough money to get out from under the control of her father. I always loved Cain's character. He was strong, protective and nobody f***** with him because they knew they would not survive it, if they did. He looked out for his employees and did anything necessary to make sure they were all taken care of. When Charlie meets Cain, there is an instant attraction that you can practically see jumping off the pages. "OH wow what was that spark?? Did I just get shocked???" Oh no thats just K.A. making you feel the attraction from the two MCs!! (Of course Cain had to get over the initial shock of it all though). Cain sees Charlie is hiding something and probably hiding from her past so he does what any concerned boss would do and has her investigated. When that turns out to be a dead end, he lets it go and gets to know this reclusive, Charlie, to see what makes her tick. And the fact that he cannot stay away from her doesn't hurt either (or maybe it does). But when Charlie's past and present collide, and she can't find a way out, she does what any sane person would do and runs the f*** away!! But by then, Charlie and Cain are both so deep that it literally hurts both of them. This story was full of angst, despair, anxiety, and it kept my attention until the very end because I just NEEDED to find out what was going to happen. The only thing I found too "convenient" was what happened to Charlie's father and the fact that nothing really came of it. I was expecting something to happen and when it didn't, I was kind of like "meeerrpp" but then again this book had so much dang angst, it could have choked an elephant so maybe added drama would have been a bad idea. I loved the characters, the family togetherness that Tucker portrayed and I am always left wanting more from her books!! I know she doesn't tie them all together in a nice bow and leaves a lot to the imagination but I wish I could get more!! I know the characters will be in her other books but once I fall in love with the characters, I am never satisfied with it being left to my imagination =(!! But that is my personal feelings because I am selfish book trollop ;) Overall I give this book a 4/5 and I want every single one of you to read this book and read it ASAP!!!! You will love it and be left wanting more!!

Most guys would expect owning a strip club to be some kind of fantasy, but the reality is far from it. With all the headaches that come along with running a business, let alone the extra struggles with this type of business, Cain continues to do it, because he knows if he shuts down, the staff who works for him, will never be as safe with whichever business ends up replacing his. He has always had a no fraternization policy when it comes to staff, but when a new dancer walks in looking for a job, he knows that will be easier said than done. Charlie needs money fast to get away from the man who has been controlling her for years. The last thing she wants to do is take clothes off for money, but she knows it is the easiest way to get as much as possible. In order to force herself to get through each performance, she makes eye contact with her boss to avoid seeing all the men learing at her. As she grows more confident playing the part, the game she has started with Cain develops into something more, but Charlie knows that in order to keep him safe, she can’t let him get too close. I liked Cain’s character in the previous books, but he seemed like such a mystery, never revealing much behind his seemingly hard exterior. I really loved the fact that we got to learn more about not only his past, but his motivations and the reasoning behind his entire identity. His caring nature couldn’t help but extend to Charlie, and the burn the world down energy was next level. On her side, seeing what Charlie has had to do to keep herself safe over the years, even at such a young age, just makes me respect her even more.

I have so thoroughly enjoyed this enjoyable series of Ten Tiny Breaths and I was so keen and just so excited to read the third book, Four Seconds to Lose. So beautifully written by KA Tucker. This is Cain Fords's story. Where he owns and works at Penny's the Strip Club in Miami Florida. He is strong and most definitely so gorgeous. Another sexy blockbuster, this book is the most emotional story everyone must read. I loved it. Although he was a real fighter in his past, Cain is now a real business man. He was worried about the management of his business at the club. Penny's top dancer wasn't available for at least the next 14 days, so now he needed someone to fill in. That's until Cain finally met Charlie. Such a fabulous story we have here, I loved the romance. Such a wonderful journey this story was. So incredibly written by K.A Tucker . Such marvellous characters all through this book too. A winner!! * I recommend this book to everyone!!

This book initially attracted me to K.A. Tucker way back when it was released at the end of 2013. At the time I thought it was quite a high price to pay considering it was a Kindle book, however, after reading ten Ten Tiny Breaths and One Tiny Lie I knew that I was going to have to download this straight away regardless of cost! It’s the third book K.A. Tucker’s Ten Tiny Breath series and features on character who we already know a bit about (Cain) and brad new character Charlie. I was really looking forward to reading this. One big hit for me in this book was the dual narrative between both characters. I love reading from the guy’s point of view and after reading Burying Water I knew that the author executed a dual narrative in a way that I liked. The narrative flicks back and forth between the characters and I really liked getting to know Cain more. Cain’s past is all sorts of shades of grey with some very very dark years thrown in. He strives to do his best for his staff even though owning his own strip club makes him seem like a shady character. He really does seem to look out for them and goes above and beyond to help them study or get through addiction and even puts a roof over their heads if that’s what they need. This demonstrates just how much of a kind and caring guy he actually is. Charlie Rourke is a mysterious one. She has a shady present to rival Cain’s shady past and there is so much more to her than initially meets the eye. I found her to be quite a shifty character and always felt tense reading from her POV. Cain tries to resist the pull he feels towards Charlie but his protective side overtakes his rules about not sleeping with his staff and the constant feeling the Charlie gives is that she needs to be rescued although you’re not entirely sure what from in the beginning. Charlie hasn’t been my favourite leading lady so far – Kacey definitely has that title. However I loved the fact that this was a dual narrative and learning about the man behind the strip club owner was great reading. I’m looking forward to the next in the series.
