So far it works great!
The Dramm Kaleidoscope watering wand I purchased about 2 years ago started leaking from the handle mechanism after less than 1 year. Also, the pattern selector knob at the end of the unit became almost useless due to calcium buildup inside of it. I looked around on the internet and came across the Gardena 8155 watering wand and bought it since nothing else looked promising. So far it has done everything promised in the sales promotion info. The water flow is adjusted by a slider that is operated by the thumb. Once adjusted it stays at that flow until moved again. There is no need to "hold open" a water flow lever. The handle itself is well designed and very easy to use. The "soft spray" is what I use for plants and trees and does a super job. Other water wands may have more settings but I only need the 3 available with the Gardena 8155.I have used the Gardena 8155 for a little less than 2 months but I expect it to function for years. The engineering and quality of build appear to be very good.

Handy irrigator
Have been using this for a couple of months and so far I love it.The three main things I like are:1. The spray is softer, and causes less compaction of the soil, than the previous sprayer I used.2. The thumb controlled volume adjuster is extremely handy for instantaneous flow adjustments.3. The spray plate is metal and can be easily removed for cleaning if need be.One thing I wish it had is an adjustable length shaft so I could extend it to give a longer reach when needed. The shaft itself is metal, aluminum I believe, but the handle portion is covered with a hard rubberlike coating which keeps the handle warmer during use. The pattern I find most useful is the regular wide angle spray pattern. It two other patterns: ultra soft spray and jet. The former is useful for watering freshly seeded areas. I haven't had a need to use the jet spray since I only use this for garden irrigation. This is definitely a high quality product like all Gardena products I have owned.

Better quality than the other wands but head does not ratchet
This is clearly better quality than the other wands I have found but it isn't as convenient. I wish the head ratcheted so I could get a better angle when hosing debris off the patio, but it is good enough to earn all but one star.

Actual product is different from pictures
The media could not be loaded. This is my second time now in June 2023 after buying the first Gardena 8155 wand in April 2021. Both times I received the same design which is different from the Amazon pictures. My guess it’s an improved design and I can say that after 2 years it’s still as good as new. What I don’t like is that the hose connector on the picture is metal while I got the cheaper plastic one.

Gardena 8155 product review
Gardena 8155: wish the head was flexible for hard to reach places that are up high. Has 3 settings, love the fine mist, they have the best mist spray on the market. A little hard to use the lever to cut off the flow of water. Every once in a while I'll put my hand in the wrong place and the connector to the wand will come loose or undone, then you have to go back to the faucet to cut off the flow of water to attach the connector to the wand. I love Gardena and have had several of their sprayers. I purchased this one based on reviews from other consumers, but it is not my favorite. I need a long reach wand with a flexible head and a lever that is easy to turn on and off with one hand.

THEY BROKE
I bought two in 2015. One broke (came apart) in less than a year. The other did the same in two years and 3 months. Glue is used to attach the metal quick-disconnect to the plastic handle of the wand. The glue failed. Perhaps if there were a greater surface area at the interface it would have held, but the current design is a design for failure.$128 for the two wands and they are junk.

Nice brand but full of gimmicks
Nice brand but full of gimmicks. shut off is good. Quick connect system is not that stable and comes apart when you drop this unit to the ground. There is not a good pattern setting for watering bedding plants. Overpriced

Best Watering Tools in the World
My wife is a full-time home gardener with a half-acre of flower gardens, vegetable gardens, and patio plants. She has tried virtually every brand of watering tool on the market and complains about every one of them. I have boxes full of rejected and defective devices that clog, leak, or simply refuse to work. I'm talking hoses, wands, hand sprayers, lawn sprinklers, quick-connects (brass and plastic), etc. She hates them all. Then I found the German Gardena brand and, on a whim, ordered a sampling of everything they make (assuming I would be returning some, if not all, to Amazon. To my surprise, my wife loves them with a passion. They are so simply designed and constructed, yet work so effortlessly. The quick-connects are a dream (I haven't been called upon to fix one yet). The hoses have built-in connects that are easily replaced. The sprayers always work, never clog and never leak.In summary, the best ever. Leave it to the Germans.
