Engaging read.
Good solid character development and plot advancement. Look forward to more from John Walker. A great mix of science (fiction) and adventure.

Exciting if you like constant action
The story evolves around the discovery of ancient technology from an extinct alien race. The good guys face off against space pirates, a fanatic cult, computerized AIs, and many other challenges in their pursuit of the pieces of the alien technology. There is much violence and a politically correct disproportionate number of strong female leaders. Overall, the book is an action packed quick read with well-developed characters.

Great Series
Upon reading this series from John Walker, I was immediately pulled into a world where all hopes , dreams, and nightmares were realized. His mastering of the written word is superb and should be well appreciated. I thoroughly enjoyed this sele tion.

Good plot but dated military terminology for futuristic timeframe
Loved the plot and most of the characters, but not the dated military terminology and implications that in future human reflex’s and senses will be the things that will defeat AI controlled drones or others military equipment. Even today it easy to see that won’t be the reality we’ll live in. Only superior AI and controlled equipment will prevail. There were also a lot of grammatical errors in these books. Hire a better editor!

Second time
This is the second time I've read this series and it was just as good as the first time. John Walker is a great author and I enjoy his writing style.

Interesting Story
The concept is good, characters interesting, but it’s dragged down by poor editing & proofreading. To a visual reader such as myself, that make such a difference. Do better.

John Walker Does It Again
I've read several of John Walker's space opera series and I have enjoyed them all. I'm sorry I don't do more reviews, but here I go. This series kept my attention from beginning to end. I enjoyed the characters, the dialog felt realistic, and the desperate situations were exciting and called for creative solutions. These are all hallmarks of this author and what I look for in excellent science fiction.

Epic and fast paced
This was a great read. Lots of characters and friendship in a fast exciting environment. Worked great having everyone very closely related instead of wasting time on species content.

Good SciFi story with lots of action
Let me start this review by saying that I bought John Walker's previous series "Rise of Mankind" a few months earlier and enjoyed it very much. As I started to read this second series it became more and more familiar, humanity are just setting out into space, get attacked by aliens, survive by the skin of their teeth, make friends with different aliens, become stronger and learn new technologies from them. At one point I thought I was reading the same first series again. The fights were the same, the characters were almost the same, the only difference was a new central plot line and for me, this saved it.In fact a great read from start to finish. Lots of action, barely a moment's rest between events, fast paced and gripping. After the first few chapters, characters became more rounded and filled in, the plot line took hold and gradually diverged more and more from the first series. So I'm glad I stuck with it after a shaky start and thoroughly enjoyed the whole thing. Yes there were spelling mistakes aplenty, yes there were unrealistic things (like turning major star ship repairs around in a day or two) but this is fiction, not a military instruction manual. The central plot line of finding Orbs of knowledge and power becomes a gripping thread which carries the series and keeps you reading to find out what they can do and how humanity is going to make use of them. Definitely recommended.

coming of age surrounded by action
almost pure action through the whole series. Marines fighting aliens and machines, space battles, pirates, terrorists you get it all with this books. Even traces of secret service, diplomacy and (shallow) traces of a love story. Can become a page turner when nothing else to do during Corona curfew.

Legacy War books 1-9
This is a fantastic read, action, love, aliens. What more could you ask for, I’ve loved the idea of space exploration since I was a kid, this was impressive. Well done.
