can this sink be undercounted under formica?

Using under-mount sinks with Formica may not be a good idea as the fiber-board material under the Formica will be exposed to water and will swell up and crumble. Formica would be okay if used with a drop-in, over-the-counter sink. For under-mount sinks, you should use a water resistant counter-top material like quartz, granite, etc.

i bought this and my contractor installed = they cut the countertop to fit sink, so it was not a replacement. I bought the sink in white. cleans up good and I really like it = contractor was impressed with the price I got it for

Did you find that plumber's putty stained this sink? The tub says not to use on stone. Is there something else to use?

There is a non staining putty that is specific to quartz applications. I used that and no issues.
