This was recommended to me for pain relieve after an injury to my arm. I find that it works very well for me, however my husband doesn't have the same result. I would say give it a try. For myself, I will reorder when needed. I think it smells fine. It is cool when applied and then gets warmer. I have had good results using it for pain relief.

Relief!!! I have devoted some time into pain relief creams and there are two OTC creams that stand out. This is one of them. What you want to be aware of is that Sombra relies on capsaicin, an ingredient derived from hot peppers. The basic premise is that the largest pain receptor on the body is the skin and, since the body cannot perceive pain in more than one area at a time, this cream activates all the pain receptors across the area it is spread upon until the original area cannot be felt. This does not mean that one is writhing in pain, upon using this cream as the most you'll feel is an intense warmth. Where this stands above BenGay, Icy Hot, Mineral Ice, and others is its effectiveness. Shaq can do all the Icy Hot commercials he wants and I hope they pay him well cause no more than a nickel sized amount of Sombra last hours longer than a quarter sized amount of Icy Hot. Sombra is also not water based and by the time you have noticed that it is no longer active, your original pain will have dulled to the point of being unnoticeable. As an example, a friend of my mother has been hard done by with cancer treatments and a bad car crash that left her back feeling terrible, most of the time. I sent her some of this product with the instructions that she's only to rub it across her shoulder blades and not directly where it hurts. She still calls, more than a month later, to thank me. Personally, I have had bad leg/knee pain setting in and I have rubbed this across my forearm and stopped feeling the pain in my leg; that's how effective this is. Now that you know the good, you should be aware of some things about this cream. As with any decent tool, this has a double edge. First, you should never attempt to rely, long term, on this product. Sore muscles or a diagnosed medical condition is one thing but if you have prolonged pain, then it may be a good idea to get yourself looked at, medically, instead of continuously applying this cream. Second, if you overuse this product, your body will start to adapt to it and it will stop being as effective. The other thing to be aware of deals with the strength of this cream. The odor of this cream is strong enough to warrant only being used at home or in environments where it is not an issue. Also, it is simply not a good idea to apply this cream to the top of the shoulders or the neck as the fumes will irritate the tear ducts to the point where your eyes will turn bloodshot, while you cry yourself into dehydration. This leads me to the other, more serious, result of losing this cream: BEWARE and woe to you should you forget to wash your hands after using this cream. Accidentally touching your eye or scratching/picking your nose is bad enough but, if you use a restroom while residue of this cream is on your hands, you will learn a lesson that you could go your entire life without and not lament missing the experience. I'll sum it up with this: This has the power to get you past the pain OR provide a level of pain you'll never forget. The scales are yours; weigh it.

Feels great and ache in joints. Works well and does seem to go deep in muscles for relief.

I am having a difficult time with this review. I like this. It smells nice. The texture is light and fluffy. It is easy to rub on. Feels good. It has capsazin in in and menthol from what I could see for active ingredients but a small amount and not enough to have to use gloves to put it on. I used almost all of mine within a week. I thought 8 oz would last longer. It has that nice menthol feeling when you put it on but for me it did not last long nor did it ease my pain once the menthol feeling was gone which for me was pretty fast. I am use to using 10% capsazin and this one is about 3%. I think the menthol is about the same at 3% which is a low dose. That is a low amount but is what you are feeling when you use this. It seems just enough for mild pain to me. It does not have emu oil in it either which has been proven to work as an anti inflammatory. So, for those of us with chronic severe pain it is just not enough to kick the pain. I am thinking of buying it again, as it is reasonably priced, and add the the 2 things that really help my pain; Cobraxin and emu oil and then squirting in some of 10% capsazin and 10% menthol. Now that would pack a punch on pain and feel and smell good going on! But, I would have to use gloves! I believe this should work for slightly strained muscles and low level pain. It does have a relaxing feeling to it too so I can see how it would feel good when used as a massage ointment. I just cannot see how it could work on really moderate to severe pain other than a quick topical 'feel good' that is over in 30 minutes or less.

Love this jelly. I think thats the third time Ihave ordered it. It helps a lot on muscle. pain. I put it on daily when needed. .i have recommended it to friends and they love it also.

I love this. It help me a lot. Easy to spread on with no residue. Feels good on the skin for relief.

I apply this just before I play tennis. It really does improve my flexibility since it helps with my aches and stiffness. It goes on very easy and does have a scent but is not overpowering or offensive. Also does not dry sticky which is a big plus.

This is a great cream for aching bones. A bit of a strong smell and be careful not to touch your eyes after applying! My massage therapist recommended this.

This is a product of great worth. It just cures the severe pain and gives us a great relief. I was confused when my first bottle got over as it was given by my brother from US. Thanks to Amazon who made it possible. Keep up.:)

My sister recommended this product to me. It 's her go-to product to relieve pain and discomfort. My husband has used it and was happy with its effectiveness. I have yet to use it.

Cream is very effective. It may not clear root of pain it gives good relief.

This product is wonderful, it relieves pain right away and lasts for a long time. It is not a cure, but it helps when joints become too painful. The smell is a bit strong, but I got used to it.
