Great when it works!
I purchased several versions of this solar pump since 2020 to retrofit a fountain located where there was no electricity but plenty of sun. While tiny, the solar pump was more powerful than the original electric pump that came with the fountain. The solar panel is petite and functions as desired. The reserve battery keeps the fountain going about an hour after sunset, and also during the hour the fountain/panel is shaded by a nearby tree. For optimal functionality, keep the water free of debris/insects. After 1 week of use, the pump stopped working (many reviews comment on the short life of this product). After testing the panel and finding it fully charged/powered, I pulled apart the pump and cleaned it out (super easy). It started right up. So, I'll keep an eye on both water and panel and see how long i can keep it alive. It's great, while it works!UPDATE (5/15/2023) - I've gone through 3 pumps (1 a season since 2020). The mighty little solar panels continue to hold a charge through the day - its the pumps that crap out at about 6 months. The sets I've bought ran every sunny day (in Colorado) and kept fairly clean in a stone fountain. I wish I could find just the pumps with the correct attachment rather than buy whole sets every year.

Changed from 5 stars to 1 star as it stopped working after 2 months!!
UPDATED REVIEW - Changed from 5 stars to 1 star as it stopped working after 2 months!! I took good care of it and kept it clean. But since the return window passed, I can't return it for a refund. I scrambled to find a replacement pump, but cannot find one that has 'two pins' so the unit is basically trash. Very disappointed. DO NOT BUY.I wanted to make a water fountain for the birds and ordered this solar water pump for it. I went for this option as it had a battery backup and I have been very happy with it and the birds are happy too! When I first set it up, the water pressure was too powerful as the water would pour out of the pot. It so it took me a while to figure out how to fix the problem as the pump is not adjustable. So to help lower the water pressure, I purchased a 'Drip Irrigation Switch Valve, 3/8" Barbed Hose ID Ball Valve' and used a 3/8" hose to connect it to the pump and the sprinkler attachments. This was very helpful as I could then adjust the water height to keep the water in the bowl. I've attached pics of some of the water patterns you get with the attachments when the water pressure is on the low setting. My birds just love this fountain and it makes me so happy to see them drink and bathe in it. On cloudy mornings, the birds wait for the water to come on as they prefer it over the simple bird baths I have in my garden. Overall, I am overjoyed with my purchase. I actually purchased a couple more and made bird baths for my friends and they are happy too!https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B08L9C1851/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Batteries are the icing on the cake
The media could not be loaded. I have a 100 gallon horse trough as a goldfish pond, with a whiskey barrel bog for filtration. I had been using a smaller pump, with a panel roughly the size of a cd case. It moved the water up the 6 inches or so to the bog, but only when there were no clouds. This pump is much more effective- works from very early in the morning until a couple hours past sunset, due to the batteries. It easily moves a lot of water into my bog system. I added a clear vinyl tube, rather than using the sprayer heads that come with the pump. I don’t know about longevity- this is the first summer with it. I will likely leave it in place over the winter, sunk deeper so the internal parts don’t freeze. It was very easy to take apart and clean out gunk when too much algae got into the impellers. If you have a small pond, buy this one rather than a smaller size pump and panel- it is worth it to have cleaner water.

These solar fountains will delight you (but more importantly the wildlife will love it)
Upon first receiving this package, I was a bit disappointed. Slim box, and the item was smaller than expected but WOW, what a powerhouse. Looks are deceiving. This will generate more than enough of a fountain for any size bird bath. I purchased this because I wanted to the back up power for after the sun went down as I find I am in the yard more as the sun is going down and the sound of the trickling water is wonderfully soothing.PROS-piece of cake to set up. I don't know if there are instructions but you don't need them. You just screw a few things together and it's ready to go-really works and very powerful. As long as it's sunny - that water will pump through the filter w/a lot of power. No worries there.-Great design - you DON'T want the solar panel in the water. There are some other models where it looks like there's a large circular disc so the solar panel is effectively sitting in the water. I didn't like this for many reasons. First of all, I find many birds bathe in the water and they like to stand on something like terracotta or concrete - a rougher surface as it gives them more traction. The solar panel is very smooth and slippery and thus not enticing for a bird. I also change out my water daily as I find the birds poop in the water. It's just one more thing I have to take out and bleach so I want to minimize what's in the actual bird bath. This device is very small - maybe 1.5 inches wide item (it's similar in size to a nail polish bottle) so it takes up minimal real estate in the bird bath. For aesthetic, functional and other reasons, I prefer this. The solar panel has a very long cord so you can move it practically to a location where the sun is brightest-I've never had a fountain before but it's just delightful - the sound, the splashing of the water and the fact that it's solar powered. It brings a smile to my face every timeCONS-those plastic clips on the back are worthless that hold up the device at an angle. It's such a critical flaw. If you don't plan to hold the device upright at all it's not an issue but if you do, I have no doubt those clips will snap off in a day or soNOTES/TIPS-not a con but unless you have a HUGE bird bath, you'll find if you use the regular sprinkler heads that come w/the device that the water will splash OUT of the bird bath. I did mention it was powerful right. My workaround is one of two things - either don't attach a sprinkler head - you'll still see the bubbling of the water which is more than enough or attach the head very, very lightly and less of the water will shoot up high into the air.-I would place some shallow rocks in the water or find some way to support insects getting to the perimeter to fly out. The movement that the fountain causes on the water is a bit too turbulent for some insects. Bees and other insects need to drink water as well in the summer time! I saw an insect floundering in the water trying to get to the edge but there was too much current in the water for the insect to grab hold of the edge. A few rocks for them to hang on to till they can get to the edge did the trick or if they have a larger surface while they dip their head to sip is sufficient as well.-customer svc: the jury is out on this still but I did contact the company to ask them if they could send me replacement parts for those little feet and they contacted me right away and said they would send another (I asked them for the model where there is a more stable base then and I would pay them the difference) but I haven't heard back from them.So my recommendation is that if you're okay w/solar panels mounted or directly on the ground, you'll be fine but if you need clips to hold the panels at an angle, you should look at another model.p.s. the sound of moving water does seem attractive to more wildlife than just birds. For the first time, I saw a fox sidle up to my home (the unit is close to my side door) and take a sip of the water.
