Seresto Flea Collar

This collar is PERFECT. Okay so I was really really super skeptical about buying this for several reasons: - I hate the thought of my two pups having to constantly wear an extra collar - I've tried the flea/tick collars from Walmart and they were greasy and had a weird smell but even worse, they did NOT work. - I've read some of the horrifying reviews - I'm just a skeptical person and simply didn't think this would work. BUT IM A BELIEVER NOW. For context, I have a 3yr old short haired ~45lbs pup (pitbull, lab, corgi mix) and and a 7yr old long haired ~30-35lbs pup (Lhasa Apso terrier mix). I live in Maryland where the weather is just always unpredictable. I feel like we have like 6 seasons instead of 4. We have woods in the back of our house which deer always like to frequent, along with a swamp/pond across the street. This spring and the start of this summer we had a monsoon season where afterwards, there was an annoying infestation of ticks (mostly Lone Star and Deer ticks). It was disgusting. I legitimately could not take my dogs out for a walk without finding at least 4 ticks on them afterwards and on me!!! And this is on top of treating my dogs with the monthly tick/flea topical oil treatment. That's how bad it was, which is what prompted me to buy the Seresto collars. (I bought Large for both of them) Once I did and placed them on my dogs, after maybe like 1-2 days, I have not found a single tick on them. I know that sounds so far fetched but I don't know what else to say because it's absolutely true. It does take about 1-2 days for the medication to get into the system (from experience and from *I think* what the package said) because I still did find a few ticks on them the next day. But after that, not a single tick! They've been wearing the collars for about 1.5 months now so I'm still keeping an eye on them (I plan on updating this review after 7-8 months to see if the claim of lasting 8 months is legitimate). Right now though, I am sooo happy. Now I want to address some of the other reviews I saw. After I saw some of the pictures of rashes this collar left on some dogs, I was worried, especially cause my smaller one already has exist in skin issues. But both are doing perfectly well with no skin issues from the collar. I don't want to be presumptuous and I may be totally wrong, but I'm thinking maybe the rashes the other dogs had were because they're not used to wearing collars? So they just kept itching at it? Maybe? I say that because for me at least, my dogs are used to wearing their regular collars nearly 24/7 since they were babies. So when I added the Seresto collars, they were unphased. But then again I'm also aware that just like humans, each dog reacts differently. Luckily, My dogs have no rash problems from the collars. As for some claiming that the collar doesn't work.. I'm not sure what to say other than that they really truly work for my dogs, and I live in a heavily tick infested area. It really is like night and day in terms of how well this collar works at preventing tick bites. Especially with my long haired dog since ticks would easily hide in her fur. The collar isn't greasy nor does it have a strong emanating odor. BUT it's still medicated so it still has a very slight residue to it but nothing that interferes with everyday life. I'm sold and plan on continuing with this product from here on out. NO MORE GREASY NASTY SMELLY TOPICAL MONTHLY TICK GREASE! **Side note** Make sure you read the packaging instructions carefully!! They mention a few things like about how the efficacy is shortened to something like 5 months for dogs who swim a lot, or how the collar is designed to unlatch if the dog pulls incase it gets stuck on something (which I thoroughly appreciate) so you CANNOT substitute this as a walking collar! The collar DOES unlatch if you hold onto it and your dog pulls (personal experience: guests came over, one jumps and I accidentally grabbed the Seresto collar and it unlatched). But you CAN reattach it!! So definitely take the time to read the package instructions. Hope this helps! I really loveeeee this collar. THANK YOU SERESTO!!!

Let me start off by saying I am one to go for all natural treatment alternatives when possible and am pretty against using pesticides on my dogs. I had a boxer for 12 years and lived in 4 different places and never had a flea infestation. Fast forward to now, I have a 2 year old boxer and have also never had a flea problem UNTIL NOW. He was itching so frantically and I just thought it was allergies. Never occurred to me it was fleas, until I thought to check and sure enough, FLEAS. I was horrified and immediately bathed him in dish soap to get them off of my poor baby but I knew I had to start using a treatment to prevent reinfestation so I chose a popular all natural essential oil based spray that I already had on hand. After a couple days of using it (it needed to be reapplied daily) my dog got chemical BURNS on his skin from it so I had to discontinue it's use. I looked into all options of conventional flea and tick treatment and didn't love the idea of the squeeze ons since he has sensitive skin and definitely didn't want to consider the prescription oral meds and have my dog ingest the pesticide. I had a couple family members have good success with the seresto collars and did some research and of course came across the lawsuit and the negative reviews of dogs that had horrible reactions so I was very nervous but I could not stand the thought of my baby being eaten by disgusting fleas either. Among my research, I also read up on negative reviews/reactions to the "all natural" stuff too and even pets that died from it and came to the conclusion that in most cases, most pets don't have any negative side effects just like in human medicine. So I bit the bullet and ordered the collar and once I received it, I opened the packaged and let it air out for a couple days to make myself feel better and then finally put it on my dog. I was a nervous wreck monitoring him for the first few days waiting for him to start wobbling or acting weird. I also very frequently checked his neck for skin irritation. Nothing. The collar is not greasy, no smell. A little powdery residue but I make sure to wash my hands after touching it. I immediately noticed dead and dying fleas on his blanket in his crate over night every night for the first couple weeks. I also treated my entire 3 acre property with bifen l/p granules. It took almost a full month, of having the collar on, treating the yard and daily vacuuming, but this collar DOES work very well! I used a flea comb to monitor flea activity every day for the first few weeks and only a few fleas were found at a time and were usually slow or dying. Now, over a month later I am pleased to say that the last few flea combings have turned up zero fleas! No more itching and scratching and our baby is free of the nasty bugs. I also treated him for tapeworms shortly after applying the seresto collar just as a precaution. Overall I am very satisfied with the effectiveness of the collar and no side effects for my boy. We will see how long it lasts though. I'm not sure if I'll need to keep it on him the full 8 months. I do live in FL so probably, but I did add a calendar reminder in 7 months to repurchase and reapply the collar. I chose this option because it's long lasting. No need to reapply monthly like the topicals and I'm not feeding my baby poison. I knew if I saw issues with his skin or any weird effects I could simply remove the collar and give him a good wash in dish soap. But so far so good and I am very happy and at ease with using this collar to prevent fleas and ticks.

My dog started acting weird, whining and scratching. I found a few fleas, gave her a bath and about a week later it seemed worse so I looked and found all kinds of fleas. I researched it and it says this is the top of the line flea collar. I was hesitant because of the price but I ordered it anyway. WOW within 1 day she was absolutely back to normal, not a flea in sight. No more itching, whining, nothing. Worth every penny. Says it lasts 8 months, so you figure about $120 a year to not have fleas, totally worth it. I would recommend it to anyone. I was literally amazed by how effective and fast it worked. If you're dog or cat has fleas (not yet an infestation) I would definitely get this collar. It works 100%

I put this collar on my dog with a lot of skepticism. Turns out Less then 24 hours later the scratching has considerably reduced. The package says it would but after a full day it should stop all together. I will write an update as soon as this review gets approved. (((Update))) it has been about a day and a half since the collar went on. The scratching has been a lot less. If this doesn’t solve the problem I will definitely return here to update again. For now all is better.

These are the only collars my vet recommended. They kill fleas on contact and seem to work really well. Just wish they stayed on and tight for a better fit. After a day or two they loosen up and you have to readjust them again.

I was skeptical about these callers and they seem to be a little pricey however, from the moment we put them on not a single kick stayed on our dogs. They would normally pick up four or five of them on every walk we went on and we were there digging off ticks all the time always checking them if they’re hiding somewhere and I am not kidding we have not had a single tick since we put this amazing collar on. I cannot recommend it enough. We’ve tried other Things the pills the ointment whatever it doesn’t matter nothing works really. We still get takes no matter what medicine they’re on, but this collar has worked flawlessly for over seven months now.

I was very skeptical about a collar that you keep fleas and ticks off my dog. I have been using a topical that would only last about two weeks and then he’d be covered in ticks. I live out in the country and half my land is wooded and they could go outside for a few minutes and just come back in with three or 4 ticks crawling on them. I bought the collar Midsomer last year and I put it all on and we never got another tick or flea. Spring I ordered another one, but didn’t put it on him right away because he still had the one on from last summer. It is now nearly mid August and he still has on the color from last year! Not one single tick this summer! Caller has lasted over a year and is still giving him protection. I would probably pay twice the price because it has been that good!
