For folks that use candles... I can give you a comparison. When fully charged it is about like a good, single wick candle burning for about 2 hours or so then slowly dwindles down to a candle that is burning low and sputtering for at least 9 or 10 hours. I have not had the chance to see how much longer it will really go. It will recharge with a good flashlight! The larger and more powerful the flashlight, the faster it recharges. I was experimenting with my little pocket light and it would recharge a small dot in about 15 seconds or so. My larger light was faster and covered more surface area. So if you want to keep it bright, simply use your larger light for a few seconds and keep the candle effect going. Like many others... I LOVE knowing that this stuff lasts forever with no worries about mechanical or chemical stuff aging and going out on me - the perfect survival light! Is it bright? No. But it does last a really long time and is rechargeable with a flashlight in a few moments time allowing you to conserve those precious batteries. There is the Pacmat and the Paclite. I have the Paclite, and have ordered the Pacmat to compare the quality of light. For those interested, I did some research and it seems this new glow-in-the-dark stuff is Strontium Aluminate. Much better than the old stuff that was called Zinc Sulphide. For those serious about emergency preparedness or survival I recommend experimenting with this product.

A great light source for tent camping or as a night light in the water closet. With about 30 minutes exposure to a strong light source, it lasted 10 hours. The brightness does decrease with time, it still emitted enough light at the end of the 12 hours to be useful. Don't expect to be able to read with it as the colour of the light is not conducive to reading but is great for moving around in. I highly recommend it.

It looks like pale green fish tank gravel spread out and then sealed in a vacuum bag! But having the material crumbled up and spread out seems to help with the glow, because more of it is exposed to light and more of it can emit light afterwards. It is very bright and the thin flexible shape makes it easy to pack.
