Rotor Hanayama Puzzle, New 2020 Release, Level 6 Difficulty, RED Velveteen Pouch

Got this as a little gag gift for the holidays for my father in law since he is so difficult to shop for. This ended up being his favorite gift he received. He is an engineer and he was stumped on it for days and was determined to figure it out. We have a bunch of them at our house and always keep them out for our guests, they always love to figure out what seems to be a simple puzzle, but always stumps them. Always a fun puzzle to have around

This is a beautiful puzzle consisting of a silver-colored and a gold-colored ring-like piece liked together. Your task is to separate them and then return them to the starting position. Sounds easy, right? Well, this is anything but easy. In fact, it's one of the more difficult puzzles I've worked on recently, which means it's an excellent challenge even for the veteran puzzle solver. This also means it might not be the best one to get for your young child because trying to solve it could easily become an exercise in frustration. Part of what makes this puzzle challenging is that the three sides or spokes of each piece look like they're perfectly symmetrical, but they're not. Rather, the piece has been designed and manufactured to such precise specifications that only a specific sequence of moves will solve it, and the moves can be so subtle that it's very easy to shift the puzzle into a new configuration without realizing exactly what you've done. That said, if you're methodical in your approach, you will be able to solve it eventually. The craftsmanship on the puzzle is exquisite, as we've come to expect from Hanayama. If you're the kind of person who likes to create a display of all the puzzles you've solved, this will look like an elegant addition to your collection, whether you keep it in the box or leave it out. for display. I've noticed several reviewers mentioned they did not receive their red velvet bag. I did not have that problem, fortunately. Mine did come with the bag. Be aware, though, that the bag is not included in the box with the puzzle but comes separately. The puzzle will easily fit into the bag, but the entire box will not, so you'd have to remove it from the box before presenting it as a gift if you want to present it in the bag. If you do want to store it in the box, you will be able to fit both the puzzle and the velvet bag into the box after rearranging some of the packaging. The bottom line: I do highly recommend this puzzle, but only for those puzzle enthusiasts looking for a real challenge.

This one was really enjoyable! So simple at first, but it has some secrets that will stump you if overlooked. Definitely one to add to the hanayama collection. I got stuck on this one for a few days! I loved every second of it and can't recommend this enough! If you like the challenging hanayamas, this on will definitely bring you lots of fun!

Good product. Very challenging puzzle. Well built. I did not receive the red velvet bag with this order. You should order the one for $2 cheaper in the standard box.

We purchased Hanayama Puzzles, Level 6 for our adult son and grandsons as a stocking stuffer last year. We were very surprised that all three of them enjoyed these puzzles so much so we purchased several more of these puzzles again as a stocking stuffer this year.

As usual, highest quality craftsmanship, challenging puzzle and endless tinkering and fun. I finally solved it after months of playing with it, using a very structured approach. Not for casual or party playing, hanayama level 6 is for puzzle enthusiasts only.

Every year I try to get a puzzle sticking stuffer for my genius son, to stump and amuse him. This one is terrific! Thanks Amazon
