this device needs to pair with a smartphone or tablet or computer to work. Bluetooth speakers don't have the software to make the connection -- they themselves need to connect to a smartphone or tablet or computer. But plugging this into a small mp3 player won't make a connection to bluetooth speakers. For a bluetooth connection to work, one end of the connection has to be a 'smart' device which can make the connection.

Does this support headsets with microphones?

Yes, it does. But this transceiver does not support direct voice calls.

How much lag is there between the sound source to the headphones?

I tried it with my metal detector and a set of BT headphones. Way too much lag. Pass over the target and hear the tone way later. No good.

If i connect this device to a laptop, then pair it by bluetooth to apple airpods pro, can it be used for calls ? (i.e. skype - audio in & out) thanks
