Planets in the Signs and Houses (Vedic Astrologer's Handbook)

Bepin Behari has left us; his words are eternally on Kindle!
Bepin Behari's research has been kind and reassuring to my spiritual efforts toward self-transformation. It is possible for an astrologer with basic jyotish to deepen understanding by comparing one's own interpretation for each placement to those written in this book. Many of his interpretations are over my head, especially those of the nodes. For instance, I have Rahu in 12th in Aries: his analysis gives me a sobriety that few others have, and I will lose my attachment to material wealth and sleep well. That makes it sound like I may get to heaven. But Aries isn't a ruling sign for Rahu, and Rahu is a malefic in the 12th. I would usually expect a native with this position to be hell-bound. However, his analysis may be true in my case. This July will make my 16th sober birthday. I do sleep well at night. I pray to the divinity in each of my fellow travelers and suggest that if you love jyotish--get this book. I bought the kindle version to have on my phone and computer. My paper copy is falling apart after 17 years of amazed reading. Namaste.

Excellent!
Excellent handbook. It explores and explains dimensions that others do not. Must form part of every budding Jyotishi's reference library.

My Copy is Now In the Trash
Overall this is flawed book. If I could go back and reduce the number of stars I gave, it I would. I am editing my review on Jan 1, 2005. My original review was on Dec 31, 2004. It deserves one or two stars only. This book is not for the faint of heart. It does not give the reader both a positive and negative attribute for each placement. In 70 percent of the cases, the interpretation is either a negative one or a positive one. It would be nice if the world were that black and white. The best thing this did for me is to recognize my negative traits and try to improve them. No overt recommendations were made. This is baloney. I'm sure that a vedic astrologer doing any chart would either make appropriate suggestions and/or give both positive and negative traits to each placement. Otherwise, his or her clients would either jump off a bridge or dance in the streets. Business needs to be steadier than that.Bloomfield's Intro to Vedic Astrology gives recommendations for strengthening houses as well as more balanced interpretations.I could also reccommend Jan Spiller's astrology for the soul(tremendous) and Spiller's Spritual Astrology (tremendous). I also have Several Linda Goodman books. I suggest that you either get Bloomfield's Intro to vedic astrology or some of the aforementioned western astrology books before buying this book.Or better for you, don't buy this book at all.

Vedic Chart Analysis
Loved the way that Behari presents the co-mingling of the rashis and grahas. It is a wonderful reference for vedic chart analysis.
