The perfect solution to getting those shiny red brake calipers!
At under ten bucks on average, the VHT SP731 Real Red Brake Caliper paint can-11 oz. is well worth every penny. It seems to have more paint than most normal paint cans. This single paint can, can be used to spray 4 big truck-sized calipers. Specifically designed for detailing in breaks, drums, calipers and rotor customization. Designed to withstand immense heating. It can endure over 900 degrees when cured properly. Caliper covers are good customizations but they are not pocket friendly and they may not fit the carโs rims properly. With this paint though, an affordable customized makeover is possible. Even with bad roads and harsh weather conditions, this paint will not peel, rust or even crack. Using the real red brake caliper is as easy as applying it and waiting for it dry. Also, the paint doesnโt drip. Of course before applying, one ought to clean the calipers very well before applying the paint. Dirt, sand, dust, grease, oil, grime, and other junk can obviously cause the paint to not stick. Brakes take a ton of abuse being under the car, so you may consider a thourough degreaser. Other than that, there are no significant caveats attached to it. The effective performance of this paint of course applies to correct curing. The instructions for curing have been provided by the manufacturer on the package box. It is though worth noting that curing happens during the normal braking operation temperatures (around 200 degrees Fahrenheit) or if the braking operation is not possible during the period of curing, then pre-heating the parts is also viable. To get to the 200 degrees Fahrenheit, one is required to drive the car at a pretty high speed after painting and then braking hard. This curing aids in chemical resistance against fluids like fuel and brake fluids. If you donโt cure the paint then bad things will happen. One of the bad things that will happen is that the paint will melt leaving you with a messy surface. To achieve a glossy red color, you can use the red brake caliper paint with a primer and a clear coat. VHT also stocks primers and clear coats. The caliper paint can also be used on motorcycle wheels. The wheels will look really good. The paint has a strong odor and it may irritate your nose and throat. Everything should work fine and as expected if all the instructions are followed. You will also have to tape the caliperโs surroundings. But all in all, the search for the perfect brake caliper paint should start and end with this paint as it truly does what it says it will do. This paint is also evidently superior to other caliper paints like Rustoleum and Duplicolor.

Durable finish and forgiving paint. Paint the pads as well or the job will look unfinished.
This paint holds up over time. I painted my daughter's calipers front and back and they look great. The color pops and the paint is forgiving to heavy application. I followed the the clear coat which really brought out the shine. If you paint your calipers, do the brake pads too! I put it all together and with the unpainted brake pads it didn't look right. Pulled them and painted those as well and they look much better. Great paint. I bought 2 cans but could have done the job with one.

Excellent spray can paint.
I have used a lot of cans of spray paint over many years and most were mediocre at best but this VHT SP731 Brake Caliper Spray Paint - Real Red, is one of the best. And not just for calipers. I use it on brackets, panels and similar and results are always good, no fisheyes and nice even gloss. It dries relatively quickly with a heat gun.

Great coverage, easy to use, and looks OE. Impressed!
I really like VHT products. Prior to seeing my friend use this on his Audi R8, I was quite skeptical of spray cans. I prefer to powder coat the calipers, or use G2 paint kits because of their heat proof coatings. Well, seeing is believing. When I saw how great my buddy's calipers came out, I knew that was it. The color was good, and light-medium coats settled real nicely. It was so smooth; almost like factory! Needless to say, I was impressed. However; for my own Honda Fit, I wasn't too sure how it would come out. The Brembo calipers on higher end cars are smooth as silk and a great platform to start with. I don't have those though. My Honda calipers are roughly textured steel pieces. But hey, what the heck? Worst comes to worst, it just looks like a cheapo Honda caliper. Bought one gold can. There's enough to spray two calipers, with extra to spare. My DIY process went something like this: - Cleaned my brand-used DC2 ITR calipers with brake cleaner - Masked off the piston and other delicate areas - Hit it once with a light coat, wait a few minutes for it to dry - Proceed to do two light coats, with a few minutes in between so that it could dry - After that I laid a nice, thick coat and waited for another 5 minutes before I hit it with the last medium coat - Once the paint dried and settled on the surface, I proceeded to let it dry overnight Damn, this thing looks good. I installed it, and even tried to knick it to see if the paint would come off. Nope. I definitely would recommend this to any diy-er. It's a great product at a great price, and the durability so far has been extremely good. I have had it on for about two months now and it still looks great. I don't even clean it, to be honest lol.

Works great!
Worked great! Most of the work is in the prep. Also use some heat. Went over my brakes with 3 coats front & back. Then finished with 2 coats of the clear. Turned out great!
