THERE ARE KEY CHANGES TO THE XBOX ONE, BUT NOT ENOUGH TO BUY. THIS ONE IS JUST FINE $199.00
During Easter break 2014, this went down to $199, XBOX AND THE KINECT ( from AMAZON) I will start by first pointing out that, I purchased this for Toddlers. My kids are 4 and 5 years old. So I am looking for games that are physical and fun. Not controller dependent. Hence, why I purchased the Kinect. And purchased it over the Playstation and over the WII, since, the kids are too small to manage even the wand. They will want to JUMP AND DANCE, and do things, with their entire bodies. So the Kinect has the best catalog, for their age group of games, clearly over 100 titles. And I am a 40 year old mom, who has not owned a game system since SEGA Genesis. So this is bringing me into the 21st century. The graphics, are good, not the greatest, compared to the Xbox one ( meaning games designed for XBOX ONE), but just fine for kiddie games. The XBox 360, has a smaller RAM capacity, and that may be an issue for heavy FPS games, or Community play. Also the XBOX one, require FULL install on all the games. Which not required on this system, and I purchased the 4GB system for that reason. I will pick up a @ 2 TB (Terrabyte) hard drive, for $80 bucks, instead. So it will have more space that both systems. Again, they system is really plug and play, and the games are dropping in price, so no need to join the GOLD membership. Works with HULU and Amazon Prime, so it's a nice little features. DOES NOT PLAY BLU-RAY. So that is something you might want to consider. But BLU-RAYS are dirt cheap, so I suggest by a stand alone of this as well. In short, for occasional game play, and very young children, this is a GREAT alternative, to trips to the movies, or as a funtainment for rainy days inside. Or even days, where the pool is too crowded ( we live in NYC), and you just wanna BBQ and chill with the kids with Mocktails. I purchased this, instead, as alternative to the amusement park, REPEAT trips. Since even with the SEASON PASSES, YOU STILL DROP $100 bucks on food, and NOT included games. I took this out of the Hershey Park/Dutch Wonderland, fund. So the kids will only get Rye Playland, and Local Playgrounds/Beaches this summer. Which they will probably love playing this even more, than Hershey and Dutch. I picked up 10 games , all under 15 bucks each ( new), To keep the lil guys busy and surprised for the summer. I did break down and buy the square trade, still not sure, if it's a good investment ( $20 bucks), because they never seem to be worth it. But the discount seemed, worth it. I have heard that these game systems, can get unstable and crash with heavy use ( as it is still nothing more than a computer). with proper care this, I am hoping to get 3 years of use out of it.

Setup and software issue fix.
I received the xbox 360 fast and in great condition. However if you think you can just un pack it plug it and play. Think again. I have provide a Picture of what you will need in addition. The system wants an update and you need external storage as the xbox doesn't have enough. Also you need a battery pack and charger plus wired plugs for the controller and usb flash drive 2.0 or 3.0. Once you have all that it works great. The only reason for 3 stars is that I hadbto research everything to make it work. Hope this helps others to make it work. Kids had a blast today.

COULDN'T BE HAPPIER - THIS IS A FANTASTIC DEAL IN MORE WAYS THAN ONE!
Our son finally reached the age where some of his favorite games were no longer as much fun on the iPad (e.g., Minecraft), and I was looking for additional ways to have fun interacting with him. He had a ton of fun with his cousin doing Hip Hop Dance Experience over Thanksgiving this year, so, 9 years after the initial release of the Xbox 360 gaming system, we finally took the plunge and purchased this system for him as a birthday gift from Amazon. As usual, delivery was on time and everything was in perfect shape. This is the "E" console, and has both composite and HDMI outputs (we used the latter). This is a 4GB unit, so you should not plan to load and store tons of games. Given our admittedly limited gaming habits, I don't see this being too much of an issue. The console does, however, have two USB slots, each of which can handle a 16GB flash drive (32GB total additional storage). Because you can swap out flash drives, you can keep different games, profiles, etc. on the drives. The 2nd-longest part of setting up the unit was pulling out my entertainment center and (re)connecting everything in a sensible way (I believe in cable management). The 3rd-longest part of the set-up was updating the console via Xbox Live (not a huge deal--there were bound to be some), and the longest part of the set-up was creating individual profiles for my son, my wife, and me. You can customize everything from skin color to facial features to clothing (down to the shoes your avatar wears), so we spent a lot of time getting our looks just right. All-in-all, setting everything up took about 2 hours, but it can (and maybe should) take much less time for the average person. Once done, we haven't looked back. The image quality for games will depend greatly on the game itself. Minecraft, for example, will always appear "blocky" but "Gears of War" was stunning. In order to "compare apples-to-apples" I put in a few DVD's, and the quality was extremely good (If you want to play Blu Ray movies, you'll need Xbox One). The bundles comes with a single wireless controller and two games (Kinect Sports: Season 2 and Forza Horizon), but we also purchased Star Wars Kinect Kinect Star Wars - Xbox 360 and Minecraft Minecraft - Xbox 360 , as well as an additional wireless controller (on sale for $35 at Toys-R-Us) so that at least two people could play everything. As far as the Kinect unit goes, It occasionally took moving around a bit before a second person will be recognized by the Kinect unit, but only in the Star Wars game thus far. The Kinect has actually done a very good job keeping up with our movements once both people are recognized (there is a bit of lag time that was noticeable to my wife [former athlete, dancer, and model] but not to me). Only once did the Kinect just "shut down" on us, but this was after at least 3 hours of consecutive play. I've moved it and the Xbox console to where it can get better ventilation, and the issue hasn't repeated itself. All-in-all, this is a fantastic gaming system, even if it is a little long in the tooth and its replacement is already here. Although the storage is limited, I knew this going in, and preferred to spend the money on the Kinect unit rather than a larger hard drive. Besides the cheaper price of the console/Kinect system, another HUGE plus of waiting almost 10 years to buy one is that there are LOADS of used games that are EXTREMELY inexpensive now (I picked up the entire Gears of War series for $15 at a local GameStop). The Xbox was the star of his birthday party, I've lost 3 pounds in a week with the Kinect, the family is having loads of fun, and I couldn't be happier with this purchase.

Great deal But.....
I bought the holiday bundle with the 4 GB and am pleased with it and the two games that came with it, except for one aspect of the entire purchase. Maybe its a lack of research on my part or lack of product knowledge but I did not know that for some of the games and content for XBOX they require a physical hard drive in the system. The 4 GB system has a flash drive not a physical hard drive. So one needs to purchase a hard drive (99-130 dollars depending on size and retailer) to play some of the games. Had I known that I would have purchased a different bundle, yet still made the purchase. On a side note, if one was to look thru amazon for a off brand hard drive there are mixed reviews on them. After the fact, speaking with a bunch of different people about it, its safer to go with Microsoft generated products on a thing like this vice a off brand. Just a word of caution, take it or leave (based on my limited knowledge)

Good purchase but not for people who want to take it to a different region
The seller shipped the item promptly and I received the item timely. I live in India and bought this from Amazon US because my friend was visiting US and there was a big price differential between Indian version and this one. However, it was only after the purchase that I became aware that Microsoft consoles are region locked. The cosole comes with the power brick that can be used only in US ( or where the voltage is 110V). I had to buy a separate power brick in India which runs at 100-240V so even if I travel to US with it, I can use the same power brick. Cost me about $22 which stil left me with a lot of savings. But then I came to know about the games which are region locked which was the bigger disappointment. The PAL games available in India would not run on this one as this console's region is NTSC/U. Not all games are region locked but there is no info on whether a PAL game is region free or locked. the only source I could find was this [...] But not sure how reliable this one is. So far, I bought PAL version of COD:Black Ops and GTA IV - Episodes from Liberty City and they both run fine. But NFS and Forza seems locked. So while I saved the mony on console, I have restricted myself with choice of games I can play. Of course I can download games from XBox Live but then I wouldn't get any discount like I would if I were to buy online. At the moment, my apetite is satisfied with the 2 games I bought plus the 2 game that came with the console - Kinect Adventures and Kinect Sports 2. The primary reason I bought a XBox over PS3 was the Kinect technology. I was blown away by this technology when I first saw the demo. PS3's move is ok but for some reason I liked Kinect experience more. My 3 year old kid can play the Kinect games andenjoys a lot. My wife also plays them to lose weight as it requires you to move a lot. There are lot of things that I don't like about Xbox's Live requirement - including the fact that to use IE and YouTube I need to subscribe to Xbox Like Gold which otherwise I can use on my laptop without having to pay a single dime other than the broadband service provider. But it was not a dealbreaker as this is something nice to have but I have a laptop which I can connect to TV and use the same. I have learnt that Xbox One is not region locked. I hope MS removes the lock on Xbox 360 too.

Beware....wont play some games
You buy an Xbox expecting it to play Xbox games but alas, it doesn't have enough memory to play the one game my son really wanted GTA 5. So I buy an Xbox hard drive at Wal-Mart but guess what. It only works on the slim version, which I didn't get because the reviews said the only difference other than the looks is that it has less ports in back. I finally got a 32 G flash drive that I was able to format for Xbox. So we go to install GTA 5 and my son accidentally hit the desk and the Xbox starts making a grinding noise, which ruined the install disc before we get it I installed. REALLY? Luckily my neighbor has the game and lent us his install disc.

Great for new gamers
I bought this bundle as a gift for my boyfriend. He is into gaming and I am a total newb. The kinect games that the unit comes with are a great way to get newbies interested in the gaming console. It's more active than traditional gaming which is nice and can be played with groups of up to 4 which is nice for a small get together. I was a nervous about the storage space on the console only being 4GB, but the ability to connect any portable hard drive has made the storage not an issue at all. If you are looking to download lots of content onto the device I would go with bigger storage, but for moderate users its perfect. The system runs great, and there are so many gaming and entertainment options that this can be used for. I feel like it has something for everyone. We stream netflix, hulu, amd amazon prime from the unit and they have all run great. All and all a great product.

Eh.
First, it took forever to come. Then, it wants me to update, but guess what? It won't let me! Then, I thought I could play original Xbox games. So when it didn't work and the update didn't work, I went on Xbox's site looking for help. 8 Xbox nerds and paid Moderators later, updates working but still no original Xbox games. Turns out I need a $100 250GB hard drive to play them! I now own it and things are working great. I've been told that Play Station is better for fantasy games. Starting to wonder if I've wasted my money. I'm enjoying my games and Kinect though. If you like Kinect and gun games, then this is a good buy. If you want fantasy and original Xbox games...not so much.
