Ruth and Esther: A 12-Week Study (Knowing the Bible)

I have read this twice because it’s so good! Life of 2 different women, with big challenges in life! But because of their courage, they come out victorious!!!! Great Read!

I have been conducting a book by book study of the Bible with a friend of mine using this series. We started with Genesis and just completed this study on Ruth and Esther. I highly recommend this series to anyone who is looking to gain a comprehensive view of each book. What I really like about this series is how it breaks down each Bible book by sections, provides an overview, and connects the rest of the Bible including how each part points to Jesus (they call them Gospel Glimpses). This is great for groups or individual study as well. Plus, I don't think the studies are "too heavy" so that only Bible scholars can understand them. It makes you think, and question while helping to point you towards the answers.In particular, this study of Ruth and Esther was the first one that included 2 books. I wasn't sure how it would go since there's are 2 different stories from different times, but they tied them together well. Plus for such short books, it made sense to combine them.

Very useful for small group study. Helpful in seeing Jesus in the OT.

The contents and price are excellent

I ordered this study to do with a group of girls and we have absolutely loved it. We are going to order another one when we finish up.

We are only a few weeks in, but I’m really liking it so far. It’s a good enough amount of content to cover in about an hour of discussion. The questions are great for both individual and group thoughts. A good balance of information, history, Bible reading, and I love the Gospel connection throughout every week!

Nielson has created such a rich and profound study on the books of Ruth and Esther that have deeply impacted my faith. The theology has the right balance of knowledge and simplicity to lead you to see Jesus!

We bought this book for my wife and I to use as a study guide while reading through the Old Testament books of Ruth and Esther. It's absolutely top-notch. I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in the many-layered meanings of these seemingly simple Biblical stories and their applications to the lives of believers living in any generation. The way the sovereign will of God over great rulers and huge empires is brought to bear on the tiny village of Bethlehem and the humble lives of ordinary people is breath-taking.

I found this book to have many good ideas but the author expressed them in such a wordy way that it was a struggle to complete.
