Review: Wonderful resource - Drs. Greenberger and Padesky have done it again. Following in the footsteps of the former books, this book is an excellent resource for clinicians, instructors, and supervisors. Yet this book certainly takes things up a notch. It is a must have for anyone doing CBT. Used in conjunction with Mind Over Mood, Second Edition, there is a wealth of information, including flow charts, detailed instructions, guides, suggestions, clinical tips, wonderful bits of information from important research, commentary, and clinical examples. It is a masterpiece.

Way more profound than the title suggests!
This is a wonderful and very useful book for all psychotherapists. It is entitled, The Clinician's Guide to CBT Using Mind Over Mood, but the title is somewhat misleading. While it is true that it will help psychotherapist's more effectively use Dr. Padesky and Dr. Greenberger's excellent self-help book, it is much more than a clinician's guide to a specific self-help manual. The authors, highly respected senior psychologists who have been teachers and consultants to psychotherapy practitioners for many years, present what they have found to be the most evidence based and useful ideas about how to conduct Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). It is filled with clinical examples and sample dialogues between therapist and clients. There are numerous suggestions about how to to respond to the most thorny problems that clients typically present. These "clinical tips" are not typically available in books; they are usually conveyed in consultation sessions with colleagues and master clinicians. This is a great book for both experienced CBT therapists, as well as for people new to the model. It would also be helpful to integrative therapists who might want to apply understandings and methods from CBT to their existing way of working with clients. Finally, it is written so clearly that some clients might find it helpful to them. I love this book and strongly recommend it to interested readers. Alan Berkowitz, Ph.D. Licensed Psychologist

There are few books which provide the backbone for therapeutic intervention with clients who struggle with negative thought patterns leading to depression, anxiety etc. This is one of those books. I highly recommend this book to be part of every clinician's library. It is eminently practical in supporting clients in making real therapeutic progress and the alleviation of their emotional suffering. Even better when combined with Mind Over Mood 2, the guide for the client.
