Defective Bluray!!
Do NOT buy this Blu Ray. It is defective and will not allow you to access anything past the so-called "menu." The poster/logo shows up, playing some '80s synth music.....and that is it. NO "Play", NO "Scene Selection", NO "Settings", no nothing. No text whatsoever. I have restarted the player and re-inserted the bluray SEVERAL times and nothing. It just remains at this screen while the music loops. I have ordered a replacement bluray, which hopefully does not have the same issue as this one. Hopefully this was a one time misprint glitch. BE CAUTIOUS!!!

Such a great topic so poorly presented... and on BDR without Amazon mentioning that
I was so excited to order this and even happy that it was 2 and a half hours long... until I watched it. There are a few notable participants (Paul Verhoeven is at the top of that list) but mostly the presenters are either character actors (Vernon Wells is a highlight) or less than essential talking heads. No Sly, Arnold, Vandamme, Willis, Gibson, Segal, Weaver, or Linda Hamilton. No James Cameron,Richard Donner, or John McTiernan, just folks talking about them. None of that guarantees this to be a second rate production.....but it hurts for sure. This feels like a student film to me and without a story arc of note. By Student film I mean the production values of the interviews are amateur and graphics as well. Mark Hartly from Australia is the king of these kind of documentaries, his Not Quite Hollywood and Electric Boogaloo put this to shame and ARE theatrical release quality. I think those blu rays of connected HD trailers from these eras would likely be much more fun to watch. To me it might have been able to have been saved in the editing and if this was trimmed by 45 minutes could have been compelling and would have hid some of the weak parts. The other 45 minutes of less than interesting segments could be sent over to the bonus features.... of which only a trailer exists currently.Shame on Amazon to also not note that this is on a recordable disc instead of a replicated blu ray. Shame on the producers as well.. Roddy Piper from They Live and Kurt Russell from Escape From New York are prominent on the cover and neither film or actor is given any time in this doc... bait and switch. You will hear about straight to video movies from the 90's for far too long though. In the 2 and a half hours there is a solid hour..... so if you want to sit through the rest... enjoy.

Oliver Harper is a Master Documentarian
I’m a massive movie buff and Oliver Harper with his channel and now this documentary has done nothing but improve my love for the action genre especially that of the 80s and early 90s. His work on YouTube is so good, I watch his videos on movies I don’t much care about or never heard of and they give me reason to revisit or try out. There’s so much more to say about this production. The only dislike would be the run time. Wish it were longer. Well done to all those involved. Now that it’s over, I look forward to more Retrospectives.

I’ve seen higher quality bootlegs.
I own bootlegs that are higher quality than this Blu Ray release. Even the main menu was problematic and barely functional. I also noticed the video quality suffered towards the end of the documentary. I honestly can’t recommend this Blu Ray unless you’re desperate to own the film physically. Thankfully I didn’t pay as much as the backers of this documentary did though. As for the documentary itself, it was decent but nothing to write home about. Just made me wish the documentary was made with a higher budget. It was well edited but needed the big name actors to talk about these films to stand out. It was nice to see films like Tango and Cash that never got the special features treatment on home video talked about though. Overall the film is worth a rent if you’re a fan of action movies or the YouTuber Oliver Harper but has little to no replay value.

It's on a BD-R.
The documentary is very entertaining. The only down side is that it is burned onto a BD-R and not released on a professionally pressed disc.

Amazon keeps leaving out important information...
The documentary is great, but this is the second time that I've ordered a Bluray and been sent a cheap BD-R. Amazon needs to at least label these honestly so that people know that they are paying for. Had I known it was a rip, I wouldn't have purchased it.

Extremely interesting!
Loved this documentary. It's very long and I watched it in two segments which is an added bonus in my book. As a documentary filmmaker I can appreciate all the research and editing involved in the production. It's great that he got some key fgures in the action genre and will be watching it again very soon.. Reminds me of SUPPS: The Movie as far as depth and historical accuracy although a different subject matter all together. Kudos to Oliver Harper! He has a new fan.

if you love 1980s action, you will love this!
This documentary has all the greats. This is about why they were great and why they are STILL great! They don't make them like they used to. But they SHOULD. At least Stallone still tries at age 70+. Today's action heroes are WEAK in every way.
