I had a “tough plastic” base for my office chair that turned out to be as fragile as icing sugar. The chair is great though and very comfortable so I took a chance and got this base. It’s brilliant. Easy to assemble, well packaged and the finish is flawless. I’m really glad I got it.

The chair broke, but this thing is SOLID, still using it on second chair now. Perfect replacement for plastic base!

I am a big person, and I found all previous office chairs failed in the same way. The gas cylinder would keep getting lower in the base, until it was dragging on the floor itself. These bases were all plastic. However, this base is 100% metal. Easy to assemble. After 8 months of daily use (about 4-6 hours a day), the base is still incredibly strong, and the gas cylinder has stayed put. I am able to move my chair easily. I wish I had known about this base sooner. 100% Recommend.

All chairs that use this design should come with a metal base in my opinion. This base is good and sturdy and does the job as expected. This is my second one as I have two chairs where the plastic base has failed around the wheel mountings. This is easy enough to assemble and is sturdy once assembled and you get an Allen key to put it together. The tubes fit a central hub however the fit can be a little troublesome pushing the legs onto the hub especially if you were elderly and have little strength mostly they go straight on but I found 2 of the legs were a little tight. Good product but I reckon £10 over priced.

Solid, decent quality

I bought this as I have a large chair which needs a wide base. The previous one was not as wide and this had resulted in damage to the gas cylinder. I had very good wheels already and a new gas cylinder so only needed the base. I was surprised that it arrived in a smallish rectangular box - however this was due to this needing assembly. The previous base was welded and very solid; this one had a small well made star and then the arms were to be fitted over the small arms and attached with Allen bolts. These were supplied with the appropriate Allen key. The arms were quite a struggle to slide onto the star with one in particular being very tight and scraped the black finish from the arm of the star. The arms need care lining up to avoid cross threading the bolts. The wheels fitted, though again one of the arms was a very tight fit as the finish seemed a little uneven. However they do fit. The final part that I felt was rather substandard was the top cap which was made from metallic finished plastic which was extremely thin and insubstantial. Luckily I had kept the two part cap from my previous base which was far less flimsy so I fitted that instead. I am sure it will be serviceable but this was an expensive base compared to the alternatives.

ok photos and description on the page are a little misleading. it arrived in a small box with the 5 arms of the star, a central black steel piece and a chrome coloured plastic cover. That said. I had it together in under 5 minutes.. 2 bolts per arm and then the cover.. inserted casters from old nylon chair and attached it to the gaming chair. all working. it appears very sturdy and it does look well.. time will tell but so far so good.

Aunque me llevé impresión cuando vi que venía desmontada, después de montar esta base me pareció muy fuerte y duradera. Encaja perfectamente. Recomendable.

Acheté pour changer le pied de ma chaise de bureau qui commençait à me lâcher (je pèse plus de 130 Kg). Le nouveau pied est à assembler : branches à emboiter sur un anneau central puis à visser avec les vis et la clé tout deux fournies. 5 minutes sont suffisantes pour le montage. Le pied donne une impression de robustesse, debout dessus il ne bouge pas et est très stable au sol. Il s'agit de tubes complet et non de demi tubes comme l'on peut trouver sur les pieds de chaise standard qui lâche au bout d'un moment. A voir son évolution dans le temps mais pour l'instant j'en suis très satisfait.
