Good product that appears to have addressed previous concerns.
Excellent product and well built. I mounted mine on a 2005 Honda Pilot and found the tilting mechanism to be both easy to operate and clears the opening of the hatch just fine. See pictures. I have a few observations to make, having read the reviews prior to purchase: 1. The rack does NOT fit toddler bikes. Our family currently has two adult bikes, one bike for an eight year old, and two bikes for twin five year olds. When mounting the bikes on this new rack, I discovered that the smaller twins' bikes would not fit at all. The good news is that they still fit inside the car and eventually will need bigger bikes that will mount on this carrier. 2. There is NO problem with black powder or residue rubbing off on your hands from the straps. I saw this complaint in several reviews, and perhaps this was an old design issue, but with the product I just received I had no such problems. 3. The rack has a structured loop for attaching a cable lock or other security solution. In a few of the reviews, customers seemed to have wisely made the suggestion that there should be some way of "locking" the bikes to the mounting rack, and I was pleased to see that mine arrived with the ability to do this. Conversely, the rack is only secured to the hitch only with a nut and bolt and my hitch lock does not fit the pre-drilled holes in the rack. So, I either need to buy another hitch lock or drill-out a larger diameter hole. In the end, with the bikes secured with cable locks and a U-lock, chances are the nut-and-bolt solution will be enough of a deterrent. So, I will likely just rely on the nut-and-bolt that came with the product, since the bolt was machined with a "shoulder" to best secure the mounting post to the hitch. Mounting the bikes does take some trial-and-error. Finding the right configuration is a bit of a puzzle, but not too daunting with some planning. All in all, this is a good product, functions as intended, and appears to be well-built. I will update if there are any issues, once I travel with this new mounting system.

Excellent device - works exactly as intended
There are several reviews that detail this device's function, and overall, the device works exactly as intended. I bought the 'Premier' version. It is solidly built, fits well into a standard 2 inch trailer hitch and carries all five of our bikes well. I do have to put some swim noodle type foam between the bikes to keep them from banging into each other - but there is no way to avoid this issue when you cram 5 bikes together on a hitch. The function of tilting the hitch away from the vehicle to raise the trunk works very well. The device is solid and heavy, so you may need some assistance getting it into your trailer hitch if you have a bad back. I did not have much difficulty doing it myself, and I'm not exactly a muscle bound individual. This device does not come with a lock, but you can certainly chain it to your hitch without difficulty. Only other thing with a hitch with 5 bikes is that it extends a good bit behind your vehicle, so if you have to make any steep inclines, you will have to be careful at the transition point to the incline, as the bikes may drag on the ground.

Sturdy and works well with our five bikes! UPDATED May 25th!
Having had this bike rack for a couple months now, it's time to share our thoughts. On the back of our Suburban it works GREAT, easily holding our three adult bikes and two kids bikes. The gray ridged inserts that you place the frame of the bikes on act as a cushion along with holding the bikes in place. There is a black rubber strap with holes in on each segment enabling you to tightly secure the frame on the support. (There are round "knobs" on each side to attach the straps.) The webbed strap that comes with the bike rack is pretty weedy so we purchased two ratchet straps to further secure the bikes in place. One strap is attached to the ring at the bottom of the rack and then placed around the bike frames. The second strap we place through and around the back wheels to prevent them from spinning around. We have not had an issue with it bouncing - the whole thing is sturdy. Richard says the bike rack is a bit of a pain to put on as it does need to be bolted on. HOWEVER it is still a one person job and once on we have not had any issues of it coming off. Just like any bike rack, expect scratches on your bikes! UPDATE May 25th, 2015 The instructions are very clear on the box that this bike rack is NOT suitable to attaching to the back of a travel trailer etc. Wanting to take our bikes with us when we went camping and obviously not being able to put the rack on the back of the Suburban when we are towing the travel trailer, we decided to purchase the Swagman RV 2" Bumper Adaptor ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00174ZHGU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ) and use that to attach the bike rack to the back of the trailer. Initially very nervous about the whole thing falling apart I am here to report that the bike rack did NOT fail us but the trailer bumper did! The original bumper was not very thick and so began to pull away from the weld! What to do? Taking a trip to our local RV store, they advised us to go to a local welder. He took the original, now completely busted bumper off and replaced it with a heavy duty one. What a difference! As you can see from the photos, there is an amazing difference in quality. (Old one is on top!) The bumper no longer bounces or moves under the weight. Yes, it means we are having to pull a heavier trailer but that is totally worth it to have our bikes with us. How much did it cost to have the bumper replaced? Only $145 plus three cans of spray paint. Worth it? ABSOLUTELY! Please note that it is still imperative to ensure that the bikes are secured well and that the pedals are at an angle so that if you go over a bump they are not going to dent the back of your trailer/fifth wheel etc. The other disadvantage is that with a thicker pipe you may not be able to fit your sewer pipe in it. Hope this helps, Richard and Liz

It is a very solid rack. Very thing is basic but it works. No issue and easy to install.

we have done two long trips with the rack and it performed as expected both times. The bikes are easy to load on the rack and the fact that it hinges forward to allow you to access the boot is great.

well made, easy clip to lean down so that we can open trunk. Haven't tried 5 bikes yet, but for sure can put 4 bikes easily.

Für Europa unbrauchbar, da der große Träger nur auf US-Anhängerkupplungssysteme passt. Eine Adaptierung ist (ausschließlich) bei Trägern bis zwei Fahrrädern möglich.

Like the ability to be able to fold back and open the tailgate. Difficult to fit 5 bikes on it especially adult size bikes. Downside is the pin hole to attach to the tow bar is too small to use the tow bar pin for faster fitting and removal and the bolt provided is too short to put a washer on each side so you damage your tow bar when tightening. Need to drill out the hole to allow the tow bar pin to fit. Otherwise a good option. Also good that you can secure each bike individually where others you have to put all bikes in prior to securing them.
