Extremely good book.
I loved this book. Elizabeth deserved a chance to tell her true unfiltered, not time-capped story. And in this book she did. This book brought me to tears several times. She was truly in love with this man… and to read how she slowly comes to find out that he’s not who she thought he was, is absolutely heart shattering. thank you so much for telling youre story.

Good read.
Very well written, interesting. My heart aches for her and her daughter. Like a good friend of mine always says, you can't help who you fall in love with.

Ms Kendall is so brave!
I gave The Phantom Prince five stars because I thought it was incredibly brave of her to re-release this book and share once more a very confusing and painful part of her life. That must've been a hard choice. This book was painfully honest. Elizabeth opens up about her relationship with infamous serial murderer Ted Bundy, but she also reveals how she used alcohol to numb herself to the disorienting suspicion she felt when she saw the first police sketch with her lover's face, and the lies she continued to believe from a man who could kidnap, sexually assault, and murder two women, then take her family out to dinner in a matter of hours. Elizabeth goes into intimate detail of the deep love she felt for Ted Bundy and how that love was reciprocated by him. She discusses her involvement in the Bundy investigation and how she reported her suspicions multiple times and wasn't taken seriously. She talks about reconciling the man who treated her daughter as his own, toasing her up in the air, playing games with her and acting silly, with the monster who would later revealed to be a killer, a rapist, a man who murdered more than thirty women and one twelve year old girl. The end of the book contains two parts: the first of which is present day Elizabeth, a sober, confident woman who has forgiven herself and let go of the guilt she suffered with after the case unfolded. She has changed her life. She talks about how now she can see clearly the narcissistic behavior Bundy always displayed for exactly what it was and how she grappled with guilt and sadness for the murdered women at the hands of a man who'd loved her so intensely he wrote pages and pages of poetry and love letters to her while serving time for a violent kidnapping attempt. She is now a complete woman who in five short years, lived a lifetime. The second part was written by her daughter, Molly. What a unique perspective she had. She last saw Ted Bundy when she was the age of his last murder victim and lived for a very long time with anger in her heart for him and all he had destroyed. This book was excellent. It read like a novel but was very much a true account of what the girlfriend of a serial killer (and her daughter) lived through and luckily survived. Elizabeth Kendall is so very brave to put her story out there a second time and I'm so glad she was able to share it with the world again.

Fascinating story
I was so interested in the story -- it was very complex -- and dealt with Ted Bundy's relationship with the author. Who would have believed that this serial killer could have had this split personality? I wished there had been more from psychiatrists who might have tried to explain this man. Meanwhile, very sad that the author suffered for so many years because of her belief in him. -- as did her daughter! A sad read, but well done.

Absolute MUST READ
Obviously I am a true crime fan, and the Ted Bundy case is one of the most popular is our country’s history. I’ve read The Stranger Beside Me, watched the movies, and listened to podcasts about it/him. None of those provide quite the same perspective as The Phantom Prince.I absolutely devoured this book. It’s pretty short, so it’s easy to get through quickly. But, I could not put it down at all. It was just all so interesting. Hearing the story of Ted Bundy from someone who was in a relationship with him and absolutely in love with him was something else. The way she write about him, it’s so easy to see how charming he was and why it was easy to fall in love with him. You almost start to fall for him yourself. When this book was originally released, Liz still loved Ted Bundy. She had sort of come to terms with the awful, horrific things that he had done, but she still loved him. Once you fall in love with someone, you don’t immediately fall out of love with them – no matter what they do.It was even more interesting to read her additions to the original release and to see how she feels about him today. I’m so happy for her and Molly that they’ve been able to come to terms with their life with Ted Bundy and completely cut ties with the love they had for him. Their lived will forever be impacted by their time with him and the unthinkable crimes he committed, but at least they were able to move on.If you are a true crime fan at all, or interested in the Ted Bundy case – this book is an absolute must-read. You won’t get this type of insight into the person he was behind closed doors anywhere else. It’s truly fascinating.Ted Bundy was a horrible, horrible monster. There’s no other way about it.5/5 StarsMemorable quote: “I didn’t understand Ted Bundy and I never will.”

Bouleversant

Great read if interested in Ted Bundy
I read this book off the back of reading 'The Only Living Witness'. This book is shocking, and really eye opening to the split personalities of psychopaths. I did feel sorry for Liz at points, and I found it really touching and interesting to read the story of Ted from her point of view, and knowing not just the facts of Ted's sickening murders but how he balanced that side of him with his 'day to day life' pretending to be a normal functioning male in society.
