Lightweight, Compartments and Spinner Wheels
From someone who has traveled internationally frequently, reviewing a checked bag (24") 1. 10lb weight unpacked. Even some carry-on's weigh that much. So....if you are limted to 50lbs (45 even on some airlines, you'll want to save weight. This bag is nice and light despite the hard sides. Because you DON'T repeat don't don't pack to the limit. I let my traveling buddy do this just once and it was DISASTER. She overloaded on the way back (of course!) and I was tossing stuff into my (underloaded bag) while saying naughty words. Oh, yes, I travel with a small luggage scale. If you have an over-packer with you, or can't estimate weights, you will want one too. They are a small investment saving hundreds. Believe me.... Overweight bags? The airline gets this look of "OH BOY!" in their eyes at the agent desk and you'll be hauling out your wallet. Don't do it. 100pct would not recommend. 2. Structure: the surface is shiny ABS --the titatium color is a lovely shiny gunmetal grey but you may want some decoratively bright tape in fluorescent barbi pink, evil orange or gruesome green to make it stand out among all the black and grey luggage. The surface is ridged vertically for extra strength. 3. Inside: there is a zip compartment in the top and straps on the bottom. The zip compartment has an extra zip pocket in the nylon divider. Huge points for this. Keeps shoes and say, equipment off the clothing. The small compartment on the divider holds little items or USB cords or a copy of your insurance. 4. Spinner wheels. Why I bought it. My well-traveled and now obsolete suitcase has only drag wheels and though I'm sentimental about it (we rounded the Horn together) it has to be retired. Spinners are the way to go; you can wheel it unlifted all over long walks in airports like Houston, Rome, Berlin and Madrid. 5. Hard sides: I've seen musical instruments being tossed like circus acrobats into the cargo ramp (and the hapless musician crying like a baby as they watched while being given smelling salts) so you want hard sides. 6. Expanding zipper: I've used this. I like a 24" suitcase (keeps me from being tempted to overpack) and then when I'm forced to take on the traveling companion's overweight items, I can expand to fit them unexpectedly. Or if I'm bringing home something I just couldn't resist . 5. Zipper pulls fit a 3 combo lock with TSA compliance. If you rotate the zip pulls around they snap into a lock on the long side. If it happens to get destroyed during travel, you still can lock with a TSA compliant loop lock separately. 6. 24" size. Big enough for a week or two, can be checked (too big for carry-on.) Why not the 29" This limits the temptation to overpack. However, if you travel with an over-packer and you can restrain yourself, the 29" larger is handy as you can leave room and weight in case of someone being overweight on the way home. You can then rescue them from an overweight bag by redistributing. Also a 29" is better for long trips (3-4 week or more.) Summary: This is a very well designed, useful piece of luggage

Holds everything for a 7 day casual trip
I got this bag to match the larger Delsey Paris checked bag size I already have and love. I love the red color. The checked bag is instantly recognizable on the turnstile. This carry-on bag is as great as I was hoping it would be. It has a zipper compartment on one side for things that might move around. Just zip that side closed and nothingโs moving. The other side has straps to secure your folded clothing. There are also 2 smaller zipper pockets to secure smaller items. I travel fairly frequently to visit my daughter and her family, and I often stay for one to three weeks. I have learned that I donโt need the big bag. I can easily fit a weekโs worth of casual clothes in this carry-on. If I stay longer, I just wash clothes. The bag is expandable. However, I have found that with the zipper expansion open, it does not comply with the carry-on dimensions for all airlines. So you have to check before using the expansion. That said, the bag is still very roomy even without the expansion. Because I always take my own pillow when I travel. So it has to go in the carry-on. So what I do is pack everything, then put the pillow in. Then I open the zipper expansion and close the suitcase. Then after a bit I am able to close the zipper expansion with the pillow inside. It works! As I said, very roomy! Itโs also very light and rolls very well. And I can put my backpack on the handle, and it rolls beautifully. Love this bag!

Great line of luggage, we travel nonstop and they have heald up great!
We have had this suitcase for about 3 months, my partner and I travel a lot for work and pleasure so I did some extensive research on the pros and cons of hard luggage vs soft and the different types of wheels etc. This Aero Delsey line was always one of the top rated and made just about every travel blog luggage rating list I saw. We bought a whole set, the 29", 25" and 2 of the smallest ones the 19" that has the outside pocket and can fit in a overhead bin. I would recommend getting the 3rd party warranty as it covers about anything and is well worth it if you do travel a lot like we do. All of the sizes that we purchased fit inside one another which is great for storage. You do have to get use to how to pack and open the hard luggage if you have never used them before. Don't want all of you stuff pouring out in be hotel. Couple of things I would say to think about if you are looking for new luggage. The wheels are so important, these spinners are great make sure that no matter which luggage you end up buying make sure the wheels are double-sided spinners so it's little 2 little wheels on each one (like on office chairs) some of the cheaper, and even more expensive brands have single wheels and they will wear down faster and break more easily. Also one thing to note, when you have these hard shell suitcases and you get to a hotel or where ever you are traveling to, if you are the type of person that likes to setup a luggage stand and just live out of your suitcase sitting on it, these may not be the best option for you. Since items are stored evenly on each side you have to open the suit case fully like a book to really access everything and to pack and unpack it, just something to consider. In the 3 months we have had these we have traveled 2 times internationally and probably 4-5 times domestically like NYC area to FL and NC, checking these hard shell suitcases does get some scratches on them but overall they have really held up well. The side handles, retractable handle and the wheels have all remained sturdy and we have not had any issues. The lock works great on the side and the inside zipper compartment and straps all work great. You can really fit a lot into these suitcases and the best part about this model is that is gives a little unlike some hard shells so you can fit that extra few things in, it also has the zipper expander but we have not needed to expand it any. The luggage looks great and very stylish, have taken it right into meetings with me and even had some complements. Feel free to reach out if you have any specific questions I have included a few photos to show have they have worn as most people probably travel less in a year then we do in a few months.

Reasonable luggage for a reasonable price.
I've been on the search for the "perfect" luggage for twenty years. Changes in size restrictions, weight restrictions, etc. have complicated matters. Add to that the frustrations of finding sturdy handles, interiors that actually keep belongings in place, and exteriors that will hold up to being tossed around... well. Those are all factors that make mine an ongoing search. The last round of soft-sided suitcases developed some tears. The last round of hard-shell suitcases began to detach along the zipper seams. I've read the pros and cons of polycarbonate, ABS, combination materials - and still end up placing a bet rather than buying with confidence. I'm not even sure the super-expensive, top-of-the-line suitcases are worth the money - not that I can afford them. If they hold up better, I wonder if it's because the owners are traveling business- or first-class and the luggage also gets better treatment. At any rate: I've used these Delseys (I bought two) four times now. They began to show scrapes and scratches after the first trip, but I don't really give a d'mn how the outside of a suitcase looks. I only worry about performance (and cost). The insides are holding up well - I like how the zippered covering zips to the inside, rather than to the outside - and the interior lining looks brand-new. I'm not crazy about the straps over the other half of the interior: when snugged-up, they have a "loop" of excess strap. I don't see that it's a better idea than just having the extra strap-end loose, but it's a small matter, perhaps even of personal preference. The wheels have held up well - I've had suitcases that lost a wheel almost with the first use, so this is a plus. And they spin well, but not to the extent that they tend to take off on their own. Another plus. The handles have been adequate: they have a bit more play and wobble in them than I'd like (the kind of play and wobble that makes me wonder how well they'll hold up and how long they'll last), but I like "full" handles as opposed to T-handles (even if it slightly benefits the interior design), so it's a plus, even if it's personal preference. One thing I dislike - and dislike on most suitcases - is the "expandable gusset." I wish suitcases came with an option to choose with or without gusset, because I would surely choose "without." Once expanded, your suitcase will most likely be over the size limit - so what's the use? I suppose if you're going on a road trip, you can make the suitcase as large as you like, but you wouldn't really be able to use the extra space for planes, trains, buses, cruises... And the other problem is, as soon as you expand the gusset to pack more things, the better the odds that you will end up over a weight limit. Who needs that? These Delseys have held up for three (round-trip) flights and one train trip. They wheel fairly easily, the handles are manageable, and the stuff I pack stays in place. The exteriors have shown wear but no cracks, breaks, punctures, dings. In short, so far, so good. They get four stars for price and doing what I bought them to do; they lose a star for exterior "dingability," wobbly handles, and the unnecessary extra zipper for the unwanted gusset.

Nice two piece luggage set
The Orion blue is a great color. Nice lock. Plenty of room in the carryon and in the medium sized one. Sturdy.

Broke within minutes
I bought this suitcase to replace an aging, similar-sized one . I loaded it to 40 pounds - well below the airlineโs 50-pound limit for checked bags. As I left the house on my way to the airport the collapsible handle pulled out of the suitcase. All I could do was put the handle inside the suitcase so it would not fall out and be lost in transit. Luckily, I didnโt have to struggle with my now-handle less suitcase for any great distance before checking it or after retrieving it from baggage claim. After I arrived at my destination, Panama City, Panama, and unpacked the suitcase I discovered a zipper in the fabric lining of the suitcase. After unzipping the lining I was able to guide the lower ends of the collapsible handle into two plastic cups at the bottom of the suitcase. This, in turn, allowed me to snap the plastic collar of the handle into the top of the suitcase. I was then able to pull the suitcase about three feet before it fell apart again. I canโt return the suitcase to Amazon because I will not be returning to the U.S. until after the 30-day return window has closed and shipping it to the U.S. would cost more than I paid for the suitcase. I certainly wish that I had not replaced my 20-year-old suitcase, which still worked fine, with this defective one.

High Quality Small Carry On! Very happy with this purchase.
I purchased the Delsey Helium Aero carry on, the version with the front pocket. Color is Cobalt Blue. I paid $85 (Used - Like New item from Amazon). In addition to the compact size, the other deciding factor for me to purchase this specific case was that it has an exterior handle on both the top and side. I am very happy with the purchase! I wanted to downsize from my older "full size" soft sided carry-on, and this worked perfect for me. I recently used this newly purchased Delsey for a 3 week trip to 3 countries. 7 different airports. 8 different flights. Carried-on for every flight, never checked it. It worked perfect, held up great, no issues at all. Here is my feedback: SIZE: I rate the size as PERFECT! Right off the bat when the case arrived from Amazon, I could visually see that it was smaller than my old Atlantic soft side carry-on. There are no extra pouches or fabric protruding out from the sides of the Delsey. The 2 handles for loading slide back tight against the case, and the main handle fully retracts. The wheels are not recessed. The hard cover on the Delsey makes it more sleek, clean and compact than my old Atlantic soft side carry on. After I laid out my clothes and started packing, I quickly realized that I could fit everything I actually needed without having to open the expanding zipper. (I also realized how much "extra" stuff I used to pack.) For this trip I packed: 1 pair shoes, 3 pants, 2 shorts, 12 t-shirt/long sleeve/hoodie, 1 button down shirt, 2 ties, 1 lightweight dinner jacket, 1 rain jacket, 1 belt, underwear & a few pair of socks. It all fit without having to cram the case shut to close the zipper. I was going to 3 warm weather countries, so clothing choices weren't too bulky. I also knew I could have my clothes laundered at some point during this trip, which always helps. I was able to fully pack both sides of the case because I did not bring a laptop. I accumulated a few pieces of art and some books on this trip, and these all fit in for the flight home. I never had to use the expandable zipper feature. Overall, this holds way more than I initially thought it would. Very impressed! Walking through the airports, getting in/out of cabs, arriving at hotels, going up/down stairs.... it just feels like the perfect size. Not bulky at all, and lightweight because I didn't pack a bunch of extra clothes like I typically would. The reduced weight due to packing less is very noticeable when travelling to multiple places on the same trip. This weight benefit was not something I hadn't specifically thought about prior to downsizing, but it makes a world of difference. 8 different flights. The Delsey fit in the overhead bin on every plane. All my flights were on smaller jets, the CRJ, 737, ERJ are the ones I can recall. Simply amazed that it fit in the overhead bin on those regional jets. (In the past, I'd always have to gate-check my old soft side carry on) While waiting in 1 of the airports, I put the Delsey in United's "Does it Fit" carry on sizer display near the gate. It fit in United's (9"x14"x22") without any problems. INTERIOR: I feel it is High Quality. The interior compartments are completely lined with a gray fabric with logo/design printed on the fabric. The design on the interior fabric gives the appearance of high quality (instead of just plain gray lining which is a typical signal of "the cheapest"). The interior clasps are durable/high quality, and the interior zippers are average quality, I did not had any issues with them. There are not 100 different pockets which is nice. (My Atlantic carry on had 8 different storage pockets! ....too many pockets means too many places I have to dig through when looking for something small that I tucked away) The 1/2 with the laptop pocket: has an adjustable clasp to pull everything together after placing clothing items in. I didn't need/use the exterior laptop pocket, so I was able to fully pack this 1/2. (wait... I did put my 2 ties in the laptop pocket to keep them flat) The extra internal material required for the laptop pocket on this 1/2 doesn't seem to take up too much space. I also use packing cubes, to keep everything tidy. The 1/2 with the handle: also has an adjustable clasp, and then a zippered cover for this 1/2 of the case. So you need to keep everything tight on this side if you want to zipper this cover shut. The zippered cover also has a zippered pocket that is convenient for small items (coins, receipts, etc). The handle for the Delsey is recessed into this 1/2 of the case, however I don't feel that it takes up too much space at all. There is also a zippered pouch that runs along the center spine. Good place to stash any small personal items that you need access to without digging through everything. EXTERIOR: Clean and Sleek. maybe too many zippers. Color: Exterior color I purchased is Cobalt Blue. Looks great, didn't scuff up on this trip but I'm sure it will eventually after seeing a few years of action. Handles: The main retractable handle is sturdy, slides up and down without any issues. The locking mechanism on the handle never gave me any issues on this trip. The Delsey retractable handle has 2 arms (vs the single arm T-handle type) and I feel this 2 arm handle makes it easier to maneuver when walking through an airport, and is well worth the minute amount of extra space it occupies. This case also has 2 exterior handles for loading, 1 on top and 1 on the side. These 2 handles are sturdy, and they slide back tight against the case (they aren't flapping around getting caught on anything). The side handle is a great feature, and my travelling companions all commented that their carry on was lacking a side handle. The side handle just makes life a bit easier... when you need to quickly grab the case to walk up a few stairs without retracting the handle, or when loading/unloading into a cab, or when hoisting the case up into the overhead bin. Wheels: This Delsey rolls smoothly. The double wheels do make a difference. It actually rolls too good, so keep your hand on it when the sidewalk isn't level. I didn't have any issues at all with the case being unbalanced or tipping over. Zippers: It feels like there are alot of zippers on the exterior of this case. But, they are necessary for the laptop pocket and the expansion feature. I don't really ever envision using the laptop pocket, so I guess I'd love to eventually see this exact case without the laptop pocket and the extra zippers required for it. I didn't use the built in lock feature. The exterior zippers all worked fine on this trip, no issues at all. They feel medium to high quality. Expansion Feature: The zipper and material for the expansion feature doesn't add too much thickness to the case. I never actually opened it, so I can't report on how much extra thickness / packing space it provides. Photos of the dimensions have already been posted by other reviewers. Somehow I kept reaching for and/or unzipping the wrong zipper when I needed to open the case (a good idea is to pull the zippers for the laptop pocket all the way to the bottom of the right side so that they aren't in your line of sight). Additionally, the Delsey case opens opposite of my previous Atlantic carry on (when you lay the Delsey case on the floor, unzip the case and the top 1/2 needs to flip over to your right-hand side). I had the Atlantic for over 10 years, so my brain just needs to deprogram and I'll quickly get acclimated. There is no card/ID slot on the exterior of the case, which would be a nice feature. OVERALL: This is a great carry on! The size is right, the side handle adds extra convenience, and the handle/wheels/zipper are all sturdy. I dragged it around 3 countries on 8 separate flights, and it never gave me a problem. I am glad I decided to downsize to a smaller carry on. I am glad I bought this specific Delsey model. I will be using it for a 3 week trip to Europe this winter which will involve more sidewalks, stairs, and trains, and I envision it holding up to those demands also.

Delsey Helium Aero International Carry on a pleasure to use
I waited a couple months and a few trips to review the Delsey Helium Aero International Carry On so I could provide an informed review. Overall this is a great bag, and has performed very well. If I needed to do it again, I'd buy another. A quick rundown as to why I bought the Delsey. I have had a Hartmann Weekender carry-on for over 30 years, and have loved it. I find I can carry much of what I want for a week + in it, particularly if I use a small backpack. I do occasionally wash clothes in the sink, and I work hard at mix-and-match wardrobes, so the size works for me. I try to carry on as much as possible, as I find I can excuse the (slightly) rumpled shirt or pants, but losing my luggage is really not acceptable. The downside of my Hartmann is that it has no wheels, which makes for a tiring slog through airports. The size and features on the Delsey were about right for me. I took one short haul trip, one longer (cross country) trip, and a car trip. There was a more recent trip, but I did not use the Delsey because they did not permit carry-ons. Pros: Light weight Hard side gives good protection Wheels are very maneuverable Expandable section works well Quick Access section Handle folds conveniently Comfortable grip Cons: Lock located on the main compartment (I'll explain). Could use a clip inside the Quick Access Section. A bit hard to determine top and bottom when opening Small wheels can catch on surfaces. Seems to scratch easily. I find the Delsey to be lightweight, easy to maneuver, easy to get through airports, and to lift in and out of the car. The height of the handle and the grip were comfortable. As importantly, I got my things in without any difficulty. I had no problem at all with the airlines allowing this bag on. All the contents came through without damage. I normally carry my computer in a backpack, so I use what I refer to as the Quick Access Section for last minute items. I used the folding section to put my travel documents and a small bag with things I don't want on me as I go through security (in spite of TSA PreCheck): my meds, phone, pen, ring, etc.. This brings up two criticisms: Why put the lock on the main compartment, instead of the folding (Quick Access) compartment? My computer or my documents, etc. are far more valuable than my (potentially) worn underwear! I ended up getting TSA locks for the folding compartment, if I'm carrying something of value in the compartment. I would like to see something like โdโ rings to clip things in the folding compartment. As it is, everything slides to the bottom. I have difficulty figuring out which is top and bottom, and more than once ending up with everything in a heap. My solution was to put a decal on the bottom side: this solved two things. First, I am now certain of which side goes down. The decal solves another issue: it turns out that Delsey bags are very popular. So popular that a fellow traveler started to reach for my bag. By placing my decal near the top of the bag, close to the handle, it is clearly my bag. I did find the small wheels occasionally get tripped up on treadles and things, but generally they work well, and so this is a minor issue. Also minor is that the hard surface seems to scratch easily, but this just gives my bag its own personality. Altogether I'm pleased with my purchase. Hope this helps in your decision making.
