SSDs just rock!
I highly recommend, especially for laptops! And with prices for higher capacity drives getting lower - I'd say even having it as the replacement to your system drive in your desktop is a good idea too. Not just for Windows itself, but for all your applications too.Booting up process improves and all the applications start jut instantly. And this particular drive is especially useful, as this is a performance line, Vector. And I got it at a good price, which makes the deal even sweeter. You need to mindful of your system's available hard drive interface to have the drive work to it's full potential! It's a SerialATA 6GBS SSD. It will still work pretty great with an older SerialATA 3GBS. Just transfer rates will be somewhat lower.E.g. 2011 laptops and earlier most likely will have 3GBS interface still in them. But even then it's pretty good performance boost!

Initial Unboxing.
Initial unboxing and installation:Packaging was great. Came with a 3.5" to 2.5" conversion metal tray and several mounting screws. Nice firm foam packaging. ESD bag and sticker. No dings, scratches etc.The Bad:Upon installation of my own drive tray, I noticed the SATA connector would not 'CLICK' into place. Red Flag. the Body of the drive was a fraction of an inch too short for the tabs to lock into place.A secure connection is CRUCIAL.I was able to pry the SATA cable 'release tab' up a bit to almost force it to 'stay seated' Still no click, but requires a firm tug to disconnect.Buy in a store, just in case. I hate Amazon returns. Will update on performance at a later date.

Good for Customer Level SSD NOT for Mission Critical Information
These are "PROSUMER" Well....uggg.....prosumer is like a terrible marketing name. The category should not exist. These are basically just regular SSD drives with a little speed on them but when it comes down to reliability for very important information like in a NAS or server, just do yourself a favor and buy the really expensive stuff. I hate to say it because I thought these would provide near enterprise level reliability but they do not and NEVER will. However, they are great regular consumer drives and will boost an OS's performance by a lot coming from HDDs.

Do Not Purchase these Drives
I purchased two of these drives for my mac pro. After two weeks they both failed and the system would no longer recognize them. I attempted to repair them through disk utility and the OCZ Toolbox with zero success. I tried to call the support number on their site and after holding three times for over an hour was pushed to another system and told to create a ticket online. So far zero resolution and their support has been non-existent. I can say they were very fast when they worked, but I would purchase something else as this is not worth the frustration. I am going to return them.

Failed After 3 Months - Drive Replaced
I originally bought this as a replacement drive for an early-2011 MacBook Pro. The included Acronis TrueImage software was confusing and frustrating, so I decided to use Macrium Reflect to clone the disk. The drive was quite fast, however I would suggest not using this drive in order to replace aging MacBooks as the drive will be bottlenecked by the legacy SATA connection (check what your SATA revision's speeds are to make sure the drive won't simply max it out). I was horribly dismayed however, when one day my MacBook would not start. It turns out that it was a low-level formatting error, unfixable by the usually extremely handy DiskUtility software. I tried a variety of methods, however the error was so basic that there was no hope for the drive, and reluctantly RMA'd it. OCZ would not give me a refund, only would replace the drive with their new Vector 180. I received the replacement after paying for shipping, and have left the new drive lying on a shelf (using it for a future project).short and sweet: The drive failed, but I don't know if I received a bad apple and OCZ support was sort-of ok.

Having used this OCZ drive many times to bring older desktops and laptops back to life (speed wise) I decided to just replace th
I purchased a few dell E5440 Laptops not paying close enough attention to the hard drive they put in them (some hybrid piece of crap). They were slow and doggy and would pause all over the place. After researching online I discovered the drives were the culprit. Having used this OCZ drive many times to bring older desktops and laptops back to life (speed wise) I decided to just replace the drives and presto - now the dell's run great and are fast as lightening! Sad that Dell builds a decent laptop and then puts a crap drive in it to save a couple bucks........I also purchased the 256GB version of this for my 41/2 year old dell and it now runs like a new computer (speed wise). I have over 15 of these in new and older machines and (knock on wood) have had 0 issues and tons of speed!

Compatibility issues slowing the drive.
Compatibility problems with my motherboard are slowing the drive way down. Sadly there is really no easy way to check this.Though I was previously in I.T., in this case I did not do my homework. I cannot blame the drive for this, except that compatibility issues are not clearly spelled out. Also the download for the cloning software was an never ending loop of register, back to he registration page. I finally used some software I had on hand to clone my boot drive. Yes the computer is faster, but not nearly as much as I expected. I am not interested in devoting more time into researching the issue. It works, its quick, software d/l was a nightmare. Overall if i was pressed for the $100, it was not really worth it. If it works for you it may be a great drive I will never know.

Great product, wasn't able to performance evaluate.
I have owned a computer for more than 5 years and everything has been great! i7 based and it has good performance. I purchased the OCZ Vertex Turbo in 09 but after 5 years it was time to move to a new drive (size desire & write life cycle was nearing EOL) I also noticed I was running scan disk alot after letting it sit without powering on for a week or 2 (classic symptoms of cells wearing out). I was hoping that by purchasing the Vector 150 I would see a little performance increase even though my system is only SATA2... Not surprised, but I didn't note a performance increase. I didn't mark any stars off as it's a system limitation and not a product limitation. Seems to be a great product otherwise.

Recensione
