KidKraft Wooden Wall Storage Unit with 8 Plastic Bins and 13 Compartments, Espresso, Gift for Ages 3+

While I was waiting for this to be delivered, I happened to browse through the reviews and they freaked me out a little bit! This is not difficult to put together, and the instructions, though wordless, are very clear. In fact, two of the pieces were mislabeled in my set, and it was so obvious which was which that it didn't take more than two minutes to figure it out. It took me about 2 hours to put the unit together, alone. I've had a couple of other KidCraft pieces, and this was on the simpler spectrum of their items.It looks GREAT in my child's room, and replaced two cabinets that took up much more room. Also, it allowed me to put things I'd had up high down on his level so he can get his own toys instead of having to ask us to get them down for them.This was packaged securely, and none of the pieces were damaged. Yes, they're dusty and that packing foam is messy, but anything you buy that you have to put together will have that issue. This piece was at least $200 cheaper than anything else of its quality I saw, and nothing else that would have weighed this much (89 pounds!) would have had free shipping.The only thing I can see that might be a problem is that the plastic bins have little right-angle "feet" on each corner, and those get caught on th edge of the shelf when I push them in. I'll update in a few months with whether or not it's damaged the finish.

It took some time to assemble, but not bad. I also had to go back a few steps because I noticed I put a couple of the pieces on backwards! It took more time to put together but after all was done the shelf was nice and sturdy. There is also a ton of compartments for storage. Which I love! My kids love their shelf and how everything is in one place and I love the organization and how everything is in one spot instead of all over.

This looks great in my daughter's room. It keeps all those little toys that kids seem to accumulate organized and off the floor. Probably going to get another one for my other kid's room too.

I bought this to use as an art shelf in my living area. I homeschool my child and needed a space for our art supplies but wanted it to look nice and match our other furniture. I also wanted it to hold up well. This KidKraft is the quality I would expect from the company: mostly all wood [with fairly flimsy backing] and screws. Once it is together it is sturdy without being so heavy that it is unmoveable. It does match our other furniture, even if the plastic totes are primary colors. Those totes are very sturdy and do a good job of holding our materials.It was a total pain for my husband to put together, however. He spent at least 4 hours on it and was frustrated about half the time because pieces weren't lining up correctly. We ended up only using one of the three backing pieces, leaving most of the shelf open entirely, which works for us.

The only problem I had with assembly was im used to some directions making it clear which direction the varnished side should be so just pay attention to the marks. I noticed some people complained that you can see the scene heads but they are colored to blend in with the wood and they don't look bad to me. The hardest step is near the end because you build the entire top and the bottom separate and then you have to lift it and place it. I did it myself and managed to line it up perfect after the third try but it would have been much easier with a second person so if you can do that that is easiest. If you feel like you have to force screw something it is not placed correctly everything should screw fairly easily. By far the best toy box my son has ever had this actually cleared space where I was also storing toys. I love it it's perfect!!!!

Upon delivery the delivery guy pointed out where the box had been damaged in numerous places he said he was going to make a note of it. Overall it was packaged very well and even with damage to the box no damage had been done to the unit itself. All hardware came organized by a letter which really does make assembly a lot easier. The directions are easy to follow if you take your time, look at how the pieces are supposed to go and have any common sense at all. With my husband deployed and me 9 months pregnant and nesting I have put a lot of pieces of furniture together lately and this was by far one of the easiest. I did it myself but it would be even easier with two people. It's not to sturdy on carpet but does include a wall mounting kit which I used because it's for my 5 year old and 2 year old son's room. Once attached to the wall there's no way it's tipping over. Overall this is a beautiful addition to my boys room. Shipping was fast also.

The first one was damaged in shipment - badly. All main larger boards were damaged on one corner. They were EXCELLENT about getting a replacement out and handling it with no problems or concerns on my end. Very good customer service. It was a little difficult in one area to put together, but once we came up with a plan/work-around it was ok. Just a little more effort than it should have been. With that said, the product is very good quality and this is a really beautiful and functional piece. Solved my sons bedroom organization issue.

Nice unit. It's worth the price. I was looking for a toy storage and it took me a couple of months deciding which storage unit I would buy. I finally decided on this unit and I'm so happy. The color matched perfectly the other furniture I have at my child's room. The wood looks nice. Assembly needs to be done by two persons, and it takes about two hours to complete. Instructions are very easy to follow. I stored books in the top shelves. The middle shelves, where the bins are shown, I placed toys directly and I'm only using three bins at the moment. At the bottom shelves, I stored relatively big cars. The unit is a nice size for a child's bedroom... not too big nor bulky. It simply looks nice and it's worth buying.
