An Absolute Beast
It may primarily be for servers, but it works great in workstations. I run it in a dual CPU configuration that was custom built. This 64 core CPU is an absolute beast. Running two of them in a dual CPU system with software that can utilize all 128 cores/256 threads = Nirvana. Runs cool, doesn't overheat at 100% utilization and an all core turbo of 3.35GHz for nice stretches of work; not just brief bursts. ECC Registered LRDimm support brings peace of mind to long compiling and rendering jobs. No reason to buy a 7742 or above - this delivers everything you could want and more at a lower price point, while using less energy. Highly recommended.
